almost impossible... you are seeing the % to one decimal point in the ladder... when you take it out fully the chances of being level are statistically remote

Won't happen. Pretty much impossible for the 'for and against' scores to be identical for any of thr teams battling for a finals berth (Melb, Esse, West C.) given their spread at the moment. Will just keep going to more decimal points until one team leads

Hes had a great season, has shown he can be a dominant forward and we would get plenty if we put him up for trade. His value is very high.

I could be making this up but I think I remember it then goes down to who won out of the two teams during the year and then if still even who won by more.

Post game Goodwin said Jesse, while recovering had worked hard on how he plays the game.   

So, I watched the replay and noticed that his run up is much straighter with only a little hop.  I also noticed he didn't sook to the umpires when interfered with and was less frustrated.  He also had more second efforts and ground ball work. 

Those are great signs of a maturing player.  Maybe it is getting older, maybe it is the challenges thrown at him this year.  Perhaps both.

With this maturity on and off the field he will be so much more dangerous and is on the verge of fulfilling his potential.

I'll hold my breath for next week's performance but at the moment we're not playing with any real conviction. 

The way Brisbane moved the ball with such ease at times against us was pretty concerning imo. For a backline that plays zone defence, we get caught out of position way too easily. 

We may scrape through but it's looking like we're going to play Sydney up there.

And that looks like a nightmare unless we come out next week playing finals type footy. We need some sort of momentum.

Port's the only side not to have lost to one of the bottom 5. In fact, they've only lost one game to the bottom 10 all year, and that was to West Coast. However, they've only won one game over a top 8 side and that was Sydney in Round 1 which doesn't count for much these days.

TMac has his best ever season, plays one bad game and now couldn't even be traded if we wanted to trade him.

'Classic Demondland' was mostly what I was aiming for (with sarcasm intended).

I thought that Mac did play a well below average game for his standards though.  Thought his intercept marking was down and that he got stitched up early by the Lions young forward (who did look like a fairly handy player).  The rest was pretty much me taking the Mickey, because I thought T Mac's feild passing was pretty solid, I don't think he really turned it over at all and perhaps the way the Lions attacked it wasn't really a tall players game in their forward/our back half.  T Mac just didn't have the kind of influence that we've become customed to.  I do wonder if Goodwin could have done more to bring him into the game, as he can be such a weapon for us, but then again Pedo was doing ok in the ruck as were he and Jessy up forward.  It does make me wonder how we ballance our forward/back six in the next few weeks, as Frost and Watts clearly add something to both ends when they are in form.

In all honesty, wouldn't trade either Macdonald in a thousand years as even Oscar has matured and become pretty reliable of late and if he fully develops into anything like he's brother strength wise will be an absolute machine with an additional 4 or so cm height on Tom and these two playing together will give us a pretty solid KPP bedrock over the next 5 - 8 years along with our other stocks in that area.

It was certainly one of those days where the zone defence got cut up a fair bit. Whoever said before we looked like we were running with lead in our legs was dead right. (apologies the name escaped me)

My apologies brother Deemented, I was only stirring the pot.  Happy to hear that you are a full member and as I live interstate, I have no doubts you get to mamy more games than I do.  Personally, I do generally like to at least watch most games live on TV, though I missed the GWS game a few weeks back due to work comments (not that missing that game was any great loss).

Perhaps I should have put a few lol's or something into my posts late yesterday,  no one seemed to read things on the lighter side.

Even with Hogan kicking 6, Pederson 3 and winning the ball around the ground, Clarrie gathering possessions and Hibberd cleaning up at the back we beat the bottom side by only 13 points on the way to perhaps play in finals.

I cannot recall one goal scored from team play that could be considered planned - it was mostly a collection of brilliant individual efforts (Petracca, Pederson x2, Hogan), accidents and a measure of good luck. They out ran us, moved the ball well to leading teammates, showed a planned style of play but were ultimately defeated by a poorly performing but overpowering force.

How many forward thrusts have to be embarrassingly squandered and even gifted to the opposition (think Hunt's precise pass to a defender after 2 bounces) before we realise that our game plan is holding us back? Why do all forwards lead back to goal? Where is a double back to secure a safe possession? Why, except for Neal-Bullen to Garlett, were there no deliberate short passes for a shot at the goals in the forward line? Why are our players slow to react and make position and create leading options when we have possession following a switch? Why are our kick ins so predictable? Why do the opposition midfielders read Max's work better than ours? Why do we not build a game plan around Clarrie's incredible ability to win the ball and deliver it at speed - its seems he has to look for attacking targets because we are not offering?

12 wins is a good year but it hurts me that we should have had more and I despair that the lessons of this year might not be absorbed for next year.

Hard to argue with a lot of that.

Questioning the game plan is valid, at the moment it revolves around running our guts out and always looking to handpass.  It needs to be balanced with kicking and hitting targets, controlling the play and being aware of the game situation.
