True, but importantly each of those games was at the Gabba.

The last time they left Brisbane they lost to West Coast by 68.

They're much better than they were 8 weeks ago but they've only won one game away from Brisbane. Indeed, their win over Essendon this year is only their third win out of Queensland since the start of 2015 (and one of those other wins was against Essendon last year).

We cannot take them lightly but we also should beat them convincingly.

I have only witnessed the first and last quarter on replay but I watched Weid closely. 6 times in the first he went up in a pack and brought the ball to ground. Not once was he beaten in the air. That at this time is his role. Mark it or bring it to ground and dont let them get an easy out. I would be playing him on the younger Brisbane backs next week.

Weid had a couple of ripper tackles. Great.

What will define whether he stays is whether he played the role intended for him in attack, his defensive positioning and pressure, and his form with the footy. The same goes for Watts. 

I only saw Weideman on the weekend but I went to that game knowing he wasn't ready for it and that was the case. Even when he did a couple of good things - he would follow up with a howler.

I don't mean to talk him down - he is a kid. But if Watts put in the kind of performance Weid did this place would be frothing.

If Watts displayed enough of the habits he needs to show - he plays.

Goodwin has a habitt of getting it right.

Watts plays for Casey again this week. Everyone knows he will be back for the finals, just a matter of playing him the following week or not.

Any player in the league would've jumped up and plucked it, let alone someone 196cm. In the end it resulted in nothing. Weid would've ate it. 

If Watts isn't running hard and linking up, he provides nothing. No physical presence, no bringing balls to ground, no ground pressure. Nothing. 

He should be embarrassed that Weid was preferred in such an important game. When all Weid provides is the basics and not much else. 

I have no faith Watts will come in and provide the basics off the back of one VFL game. 

jack has unfortunately always played like a 196cm player who thinks he's 175cm; he doesn't jump at the ball as he doesn't fancy the contest the majority of the time

0 tackles in the vfl is simply not up to standards expected of a bog ordinary vfl player, let alone a decent afl one

Rubbish. Bugg was made to take responsibility for his actions. He basically king hit a bloke.

He has shown remorse, stayed out of the media, kept his head down and trained hard to try to prove that those actions were not representative of how he or the club would like to play the game. He's done his time and I look forward to seeing a BETTER player out there which I think he will be, because he has been handled well.

When Gawn passed to Weideman in the last quarter (when he was dead in front of goals), Weideman missed. Watts would not have! That is one reason why Watts is so valuable in critical matches, even if there are players who out-perform him on tackle counts.

That's far too simplistic.

It's not just the quantity of tackles but also the quality.

It's also the weak attack on the ball, going to ground more often than not in one-on-one situations, half-hearted marking attempts as well as pulling out of contests like he did against Port Adelaide.

 

 

 

The hyperbole about Jack Watts in this thread is only outdone by the paranoia in the regular "umpires have it in for us" threads.

All I can say, is thank goodness the Greeks have given us such wonderfully descriptive words to help us fully appreciate Demonland.
