I couldn’t agree more HB this has really taken the pressure / stress off a lot of us.

Well done JM and Big Bad Ben Brown for coming to the Dee's.!!!!

Huge coup.

This trade excites me more then the May and Lever trades.

Welcome BB.

Not to mention Alan Jarrott, Shane Zantuck (via South Melb), Brent Crosswell and to a far lesser extent Xavier Tanner.

Brent Crosswell. What a legend but he was more in retirement mode at Melbourne. Shane zantuck I remember well. He got into one the best punch ons I have seen at the footy with Damien Drum of Geelong. Right in front of the smokers stand. Zantuck came off second best as he was covered in blood when it had finished.

Gotta say I am genuinely delighted to welcome Ben to the club. He is tall, moves well, leads well has good hands and is a quality set shot. Some of of our guys will need to be retrained on how to kick to a leading forward but this is positive. I hear from good sources that he is a good guy around the club as well, so welcome Ben lets hit up those leads make it work and have this guy as a Demon for life.

Welcome Ben Brown you are in for a feast  The ball  will come in quickly be ready!

Josh Mahoney the wheeler and dealer Well done you are  Guru.  What's next?

Remind me again. Why were the club trying to push Mahoney out the door? I'm not sure how he goes the other 51 weeks of the year but his work during trade week has been faultless.

Yep, makes no sense.

We seem to be a millennium in front of the other clubs when it comes to trading (upgrading) draft picks.

Thanks Josh - I, for one, am very impressed with your great work.

And go Benny Brown - I’m bloody pumped you’re a Dee.

Welcome Benny Brown 4 years of fun and success. Can't wait to see you burn up the G taking marks kicking goals and helping our team become a real challenger.

Hope you are happy at home and with you r footy and set fir a great season.

Just watched the Ben Brown highlights on the official website.

Fair dinkum, we have just landed an absolute belter here. Possibly better than Jeremy Cameron.

I was a huge fan of the Steven May trade, but this could be even better.

We’re top 4 next year. No excuses.

I’m in a good mood right now.

He may not be the prettiest, but he goes all right.?

Ok so 2021 we really have no excuses. We have a solid backline, a great ruckman and classy midfield and now a reliable forward and not a bad forward line.

Message to our midfield. Don's stuff around with short kicks or silly handpasses, just kick it in long to Ben.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do and now this should help weiderman because he won't get the number 1 defender anymore.

Our improvement needs to come from the coaching box more than the list.

Goody hasn't got it right consistently yet, he is IMO a bottom 4 coach.

This doesn't mean he can't improve but that is where we take our next leap.

Welcome Big Bustling Benny Brown hopefully your back to your Coleman medal winning potential and kick bags of goals for us and bring that elusive 13th Premiership home.

I can’t imagine any Dees fan being upset about this trade, regardless of his 2020 form (which is difficult to read given the bizarre year) this is an absolute steal for a bloke who has consistently been up there in the Coleman medal race in a team that has been mostly mediocre.

What Brown will give us is a true focal point to look to when going inside 50, there are players that “demand” the ball when they’re leading and Brown is one of them.

This is a massive get for us and Josh has pulled off a great little trade period for us. Perhaps I would’ve liked a little more activity on the wing side of things but internally it sounds like they are backing themselves that they have the tools available.

Big 2021 coming and I look forward to seeing Sideshow Ben kicking bags of goals in the Red and Blue!

That highlight reel on the club’s website is unreal. I’ve seen Benny play on many occasions but I didn’t realise how crafty he can be around the goals.

As the man himself said in his first interview with us, he is not one dimensional. While taking marks on the lead is one of his main strengths, he is also dangerous at ground level and has an inane goal sense.

If he can get back to his brilliant best, which I can’t see any reason why he can’t, then we have got ourselves a genuine star here. Can’t wait to see him don the red and blue in 2021.

If thats the same one they just  put on the AFL website yes it is unreal.

Where have they been hiding those highlights?     Brown will be amazing.

So we have one of the premier forwards in the present game!

Well down MFC.

Good hands, hard to match up on, works at his craft, kicks straight, loves to lead.

I can see him getting on well with Max. Seems to have similar natures. Not aggressive, though determined and maybe a bit of character. Hopefully fits into our team of comraderie and connection.

Would love to see some aggro and ruthlessnes, perhaps others can bring that,

We are looking a tall team, with most of them quite agile.

Bring on the craft,

Go Dees.

To be fair I think the contract side of things are question marks, Tmac is a glaring example.

We couldn’t give away that contract this trade period. You can look at Omac, or no one wanting ANB or AvB as overrating certain players. (I known it is a footy dept collective but the buck stops with Josh).

Missing our on a winger this time is a whiff.

On the incoming side he gets some very interesting and positive deals done (the pick swaps to jump back up the star board in particular) for the Dees, well done Josh. There has been a narrative that “we get bent over” each trade period for a few seasons now which is just ridiculous.

Good lord that is crazy town that we got him in for so little, Geelong desperately wanting Cameron.

I don't think anyone was against picking Brown up, the main point off difference was his value and based on the points getting him for the approx pick 36 is right.  We now hope he can deliver

Not since Neitz have we had a big fwd that can kick straight and kick long

287 goals and 139 behinds

2018 he kicked 61 goals and 24 behinds!

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.
