I'd play Brown and Jackson as the two talls with Petty as back up.

there is no guarantee that Petty will get on the park. If he does bonus better  to prepare without him at this stage

Groins take for ever and are very debilitating

You'd have to think we might look at Harmes or Brayshaw as tradeable. Harmes' contract, unless it's small, may stand against him. Is this why Harmes was played out of position the entire year? Clutching at straws, AF.

I'd trade Weideman for Merrett. Essendon need a KPF...

Wait wha? WE need a net gain of KPFs this trade period (or worst case scenario net flat with 1 elite small forward coming in).

Damian Barrett on the Sunday Footy show just said he believes we are now front runners for Ben Brown.

Very interesting.

If he gets a haircut and reduces his run up I’d take him.

Unsure if this will surprise others as much as it did myself but Browns contested mark % stacks up against most of the key power forwards. I have always thought of him primarily as a leading mark (which would straighten us up). He also averages the highest “frees for” of key forwards.

I watched his 2019 highlights on YouTube and was very unimpressed with the amount of soft free kicks he got. When you consider the umpires put the whistle away in the finals it's not the way you want to be getting them.

Gosh, I hope we walk straight away from this big sideshow bob fella. Would be a costly mistake

Maybe not our No 1 choice ( Cameron preferred) but Brown is better than not at all.

Its all about the number of sideshows you can get into Sideshow Alley

ie Weid Kosi Fritta Trac Jacko Charlie Baker Maxy Tommy AND Brown.

That  makes us More unpredictable and harder to play against.

It’s really exciting to have us landing a key forward but I’m naturally mistrustful anytime Barrett reports on North. He is so one-eyed when it comes to them that he would always be reporting whatever works for North. I hope we play hardball with them, get Brown to nominate us, get him for pick 23 or he walks to the draft, North have basically thrown him out the door they’re lucky to get any pick for him.

He can run in 100m if it means he kicks it straight. In fact he can do whatever and look however  he wants on field if he has his 4th 60+ Goal season. As an opposition player I have always found him annoying due to his quirks. I’ll embrace them if they are ours. As long as his knees (allegedly what was physically challenging him) face the test he should be our number 1 target based on a balance of need vs likely cost. Brown as the main man deep with Weid and LJ with room to roam. Petty can develop as a swing man with no pressure. Then we need to find us some more run and polish at the right price and let’s go.

That because he throws his arms around like a clown when any defender goes near him

As much as I am not a fan of Brown, we are desperate for a solid, mature tall fwd.

IF his body is ok we should go for him. He has kicked 60 goals is three consecutive seasons which is probably the best record of any fwd in the comp. and he can tuck and bit and take the pressure off Gawn and LJ.

We will need to pay more than a second rounder for sure. Even though north want to trade him. He has a proven record and has more trade value than a Frost.

if his body is not ok, no deal. We don’t need another crocked big man

My viewing of Brown the last few seasons is he has got skinnier. Not sure if it is just me and or if it has had an affect on his game or not. I know he is a committed family man and that may have played a part in his recent poor performance as his priorities have changed. Time will tell.

If that’s the case the club must be confident of moving TMac on. Any update there?

Sorry mate nothing was mentioned there.

Brown , Weid , Jackson, Fritsch.
You would think that they all don’t play in the same fwd line.
May leave Weid vulnerable.

Weid puts together a great stretch of football before the crazy fixturing tires him out and we go replace him with Broken Ben Brown.

Weid will end up at Casey before finding success at another club in 2022.

Weid always does better as second banana, so having Brown would allow him the second defender and his more normal role

Fritsch could be handy on the wing if he got fit enough

My concern with a Weideman/Brown forward line would be the lack of defensive pressure once the ball hit the ground. Both of these blokes apply very little heat on defenders when they have the pill.

Port, Geel, Richmond all have one focal point key forward in Dixon, Hawkins and Lynch.

The secondary talls - Marshall, Stanley and Riewoldt - rarely touch the ball.

Weid and Brown just won’t work. Let’s stick with Weid, use our cap space and draft capital finding guys who can run, kick and pressure to create scoring chances. Zak Butters, Mitch Duncan, Shai Bolton - that’s what we need.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
