And your statement about TMac’s 2018 being better than anything Ben Brown has produced is factually incorrect. TMac kicked 53 goals in 2018. Brown has kicked 60+ ... TWICE!

Oh dear, yes, how could I not have noticed, Brown did indeed kick as many as 0.3 goals a game more than McDonald.

I guess I must have been blinded by mere details like McDonald having Brown well covered for

* Disposals, and Disposal Efficiency, and (lower) clangers

* Marks

* Tackles, and Tackles inside 50.

* Inside 50s, Score Involvements and Goal Assists

* Clearances

* One percenters, intercepts

* Metres gained

The rest is pretty even. There's only one area where Brown comes out ahead, and that, to nobody's surprise, is free kicks.

Sorry to blind you with another minor detail but Brown has kicked 40/60/60/50+ in last 4 seasons.

How’s TMac find this year?

You’re reaching Goffy.

A first round pick and Petracca for Brown. Wow.

Brown is a FA next season, why would you give up next seasons first round pick (or this years for that matter) plus Petracca for him? Ludicrous.

Yes, beggars belief, doesn't it.

And if we did that, posters would then be calling for the head of Mahoney and Todd Viney

Brown is no good for us. He won’t get many free kicks in the red and blue.

Actually, 3 contested marks.

Still not worth our first rounder or Petracca. Definitely not both.

Yes he is. You really have no idea.

Ahh yes. First mod ever to get sacked from memory. He was like Biff in Home Alone.

Hang on. Just finished watching a happy Roos team post victory, celebrating with their new promising coach as they ‘keep their season alive’. Good vibes for them.

What makes anyone think Norf would consider trading Sideshow Bob in the first place? Or that he wants to go?

Can’t find an explanation after sifting through the verbal diarrhoea and argumentative posturing on here.

I stated that McDonald's 2018, his first season full time as a forward, was at least as good as any season that Ben Brown has had, and therefore there is a case to persevere with McDonald despite his disasterous 2019.

I supported that statement with the available, quite conclusive, data, which is also backed by a truckload of 2018 general opinion and commentary as to McDonald's qualities, most particularly his fitness, professionalism and workrate.

I don't feel a need to be dragged into your pattern of near-random bipolar fixations on players.

Got 3 hopes of getting Brown. Buckley;s, none and FA. Look for someone else.

Remember those days. You had to be tough to survive ... :)

I've always thought Ben Brown is too patchy

He's very active for a while, has a hot streak, then goes missing for ages...

Reminds me of you actually! Perhaps that's the reason for your fascination?

He, she or it was downright creepy.

Whether it’s Brown or someone else, we need a key fwd that can consistently take pack marks and kick goals. We also need 2 quality small fwds. I was unaware of Brown’s free agent status, so now knowing that obviously changes things.

But seriously, does anyone honestly believe Petracca is in the top 5 fwds in the comp, or in the same league as Grey or DeGoey. How different some of the comments on Brown would be if he was already playing for the Dees.

We need someone who has very long arms so that he can marks over a variety of areas. VAry good reflexes to pick up the direction the kick is coming from  etc.

The Full fwd does not maketh the team. The quality of delivery maketh the full fwd.

The bloke we shouldbe looking at is Seb Ross. How many times does he make Membrey and Bruce (Both fair to average) look really good.

I'm on the fence with this phantom trade

Two fast kids from the draft can add so much excitement to a list

Further, T Mac and Weid are potential giants that will be a headache for opposing teams

The back six is starting to look good...now, some fast kids to go into the pot

Nah, back in a top end draft pick to kick it into the 50 in a manner that's different to a mongrel punt.

Why would  Brown leave Norf? Especially to go to MFC.

Exactly, and no doubt they have the money to keep him after missing out on big RFA’s they saved up for over the last couple of seasons.

Plus Brown’s quite a consistent, leading big forward. Doesn’t sound very ‘Melbourne’ like.

Think how hard it it is to develop a forward.... you wouldnt give one away lightly. Hang on we did...

  • PREGAME: Essendon

    Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

    Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

    There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

    I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

    Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
