Looking ahead ... the Path to September

Is it just me but if we unfortunately miss the finals, would anyone else rather Essendon take our place rather than St Kilda?

We've had a nice rivalry with the Saints as to who reaches September first, and it would be nice to get there first.

I dislike Essendon with a passion. I don't understand why the players re-signed contracts with them after what the club did to them. I don't understand why their supporters keep going back for more and I certainly don't understand why anyone on this board would want to see them play finals.

* I do quite like Ash, the Bomber supporter, who occasionally posts on here though so that confuses me a bit

The AGE has us finishing 8th with a 12-10 record and playing Richmond (5th) in week 1.

They've tipped us to only beat North, Brisbane and Collingwood but yet still make it.

We play the Saints with what should be a full team bar Jones. Would be disappointed to lose that one.

North will end up around 16th .. we really should put them away with some degree of ease.

Still very confident of 13 wins

I so so so hope the playing Richmond in the first week of finals comes true. We will kill them.

I am drooling at the prospect.

We'd all be ecstatic to make finals and play whoever, but god wouldn't it be nice to get those pretenders.

They haven't won a final since 2001 (lol) and we will make sure that pathetic streak continues.

The frightening thing about that prediction is that they have us losing the next 3 of 4, so after Round 21 we would be in 11th place with 2 games remaining.

It will be doomsday on Demonland, and draft threads will be popping up everywhere.

I think we will beat Port, however.

That has Richmond only dropping one game!? Carro must have had a say in this!

Ive done the predictor to death now. Even varied scores for interest. Like yourself I'm still leaning towards 13. I am a bit surprised actually.  If we can find rhythm and tempo quickly with players returning I could even argue 14....( Then i wake up )

I think we have all done the predictor to death.

PA 50 / 50 if we get a few back.

Roos in tassie should be a win for us. we have a good record away this year.

Bit early to say about GWS but they are out of form so that opens a gap.

Lions, St. Kilda, Pies should be a foot in.

If we don't win 4 we do not deserve to be in the finals.

Much like the Blues game the week before, the Port game this week could be massive in determining our position.

Port hold no fears for me, we lost to Adelaide last week because we were seriously undermanned in the middle (and they are a good team as well). We should be getting back at least a couple who can help in that regard, although we've lost is our best tagger.

But Port haven't beaten anyone of note or anyone who has been in good form, they've been lucky with their draw and lucky the times they've played teams (and like the doggies last year you can only beat who's in front of you). I believe they will be setting themselves for this game as proof they can beat a decent team, but if we get back to our pressure game with hard tackles they will turn to water.

There is no team, NO TEAM I fear this year. Win this week and we're well and truly back on track.

Too play Richmond in a final 1st up would be a dream result, how big would that crowd be would be 90k plus imo, and ALL The pressure on them to perform and by some miracle dusty didn't play the pressure would be too much for them

Pre-game Saturday night, one of the commentators (think it was Sandy - probably mistaken) said, 'At 9-6 on the ladder, this game is a must win for the Demons'. When was the last time a human being constructed a sentence even resembling that? We're doing alright.

Given a good amount of our key players have missed a few weeks recently I wonder if that might give us a little edge in the fresh legs department when we get to the last 2-3 rounds

Geez, id be happy to just finish 8th on percentage.

4th isnt impossible though, but if we lose to Port you can forget it.

The most bizarre season for a long long while.

Could STILL be anything.

Like a game of blink.

Misson says Jonesy is 1-2 weeks away.  With any luck, we will have a full strength team vs St Failure, and for the rest of the season.

I reckon there is something in this. Everyone was talkung about the doggie's injuries last year but easy to forget by finals time (and helped by the ore finals week off) they had an almost full side, many of whom had time to freshen up, albeit through injury

My prediction:

Adelaide 15-7

GWS 16-4-2

Geelong 16-5-1

Port 15-7

RIchmond 14-8

West Coast 14-8

Sydney 13-9

Essendon 13-9

--------------------

Melbourne 13-9

W Bulldogs 11-11

St Kilda 10-12

Sadly, Essendon and West Coast have very easy draws and overtake us, despite us winning 13 games!

I'd rather GWS in Sydney.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
