There is going to be some scheduled downtime today while we upgrade the storage space on our servers.

Demonland is growing all the time and this growth is requiring us to expand our home.

This upgrade unfortunately comes with a significant rise in costs to our monthly web hosting and other associated costs in running Demonland.

I haven't come cap in hand this year as I have done the past few years but I'm afraid I have to now.

I'd also like to throw a few Demonland dollars Nashers way as he's always in the trenches during outages.

There are a few ways you can help us out.

You can take out a Demonland Annual or Lifetime Subscription to remove the ads that you see on Demonland:http://demonland.com/forums/store/category/2-subscriptions/

If you are already a Subscriber and would like to assist further you can always donate to Demonland: http://demonland.com/forums/clients/donations/

If you want to help out Demonland and also look cool doing it you can purchase some Demonland branded merchandise: http://demonland.com/forums/store/category/3-merchandise/

Thank you for any help that you can give. I truly do appreciate it.

The site may be down for some time during the day whilst the upgrade is happening.

OK folks.....what would we do without Demonland and the people who make it happen?

Andy and the team need us to chip in to keep this wonderful site going and they are looking for $2K to do that.

$200 from me

Thanks George. It is much appreciated. I should be paying you for the great match reports you do and for the hard work you put in moderating this site. Thank you.

Looks like you are already an Annual Member so you don't need to renew or can't until the year is up. If you would like to contribute another way you can always do the one off donation. http://demonland.com/forums/clients/donations/

Thank you for your continued support.

Thought it must be close to renewal time how do I find out when the subscription is due.

I checked and your subscription runs out of the 18/5/17. You should be notified closer to the date.

Andy, just a query on the storage space required... Can this not be improved by deleting a heap of old data in the way of threads, filtering out large images, very old content that posters with good memories seem to dig up etc..?

I'm no IT Boffin but are these suggestions in any way plausible? I guess I'm basing it off the way I've managed email inboxes over the last decade or so.

Are you implying that Nasher has no idea what he is doing? :P

I thought that was a given.

Are you implying that I'm asking the wrong person?

:lol:Case in point, @Nasher dredging up the Cameron Johnstone thread.

Yes delete most of the trite ,inane, twerpy dull stuff .

That should account for about 98 per cent of the capacity.

Not really - the data is really only a fraction of what gets used. The bulk of it is the system software which gets larger with each update.

Besides, it would be a shame if we had to start deleting stuff out of the archives, there is a lot of history there as the current database has been operating continuously since 2005.

I've just bought a lifetime subscription to DL to have Ads removed. If only it would remove all the negative bs that comes when we're three goals down as well.

Love the site and the effort put in by all the mods to keep order (as best you can!).

Keep up the great work. Go dees.

Bah! I reckon I'd have topped 10000 posts if you blokes hadn't deleted many of my informative literary gems.

Normally I make a donation but will sign up for a lifetime subscription since I haven't been banned for long time now. The clutter with ads is also slowing down my browser.

So with another update to the system software, what added features should we be expecting?

Or am I interpreting this incorrectly?

I think Nasher is alluding to the fact that the software becomes more bloated each time it updates. They include a lot of features that are either unnecessary or rarely used.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
