edit: ANB would've got 3 votes but theย kick backwards to O Mac was unforgivableย

6 - Jones. Just so inspiring.

5 - Hunt. Dashing off half back really set us up in first 3qtrs

4 - Watts. Was BoG at half time and was serviceable in the ruck. Got tired in last qtr.

3 - Kent. He missed some sitters but he was very dangerous after qtr time.

2.Stretch. Didn't do much wrong and his contested work was very good.

1.AnB. Despite that shocking backwards kick I thought he tried his guts out.

ย

6 - Jones ( was unbelievable )

5 - Hunt ( indefatigable and exciting)

4 - Watts ( showed heart and effort )

3 - Jetta ( made only 1 mistake )

6. ย Jones ย - ย every bit as inspiring as Dangerwood (yes, both combined!)

5. ย Hunt ย - ย ferocious attack on the ball and man. ย Never let up all day.

4. ย Watts ย - ย ran himself into the ground for the team today. ย Just a pity we couldn't play him up forward as well

3. ย Stretch ย - ย had the ball on a string (especially in the first half), and for the most part he used it pretty well.

2. ย Kent ย - ย excellent pressure up forward and great vision ....... ย but we needed him to nail a couple of those missed shots!

1. ย ANB ย - ย a 'workhorse' all day. ย Got plenty of it and laid a heap of tackles. ย Would have rated higher but for a bit of ย wonky decision making and disposal under pressure.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
