Panic stations from Fremantle Football Club Media via their twitter feed - just to quell the sick taste in their mouth that is bubbling.

"Fyfe: I see my future at Freo and have said I'd always wait until a particular time to discuss contracts, wins and losses won't impact that"

In all seriousness, I don't know that he suits our organisation... and we certainly shouldn't sell the farm...

Why panic stations?  He hasn't said anything controversial.

And no, I don't think we need to be chasing Fyfe.  Like others I believe another key back would do us the world of good, and Fyfe wouldn't come cheap.

Fan's are fickle - He hasn't said anything controversial at all, its not about him - its about the media departments response in what they curate (naturally accentuating the positives).  It then got me thinking about whether MFC would even want his calibre...

Would much prefer Steven may or jake lever

Imo best player in the league. Will get back to his best. Would love to get him. So strong, amazing mark. Driven, wants to win a flag

I think that's the catch. Whoever gets Fyfe, Martin or even Kelly from GWS as reported today, will have to sell the farm and then some.

I'm not informed on our salary cap position but there are some young players  on our list who are going to be demanding some big coin in their own right in the next few years.

Fyfe is amazing when fit, but I feel our needs lie elsewhere considering what it would cost to get him.

Forget Fyfe i think a bigger target for us would be Steven May.

Saints and Norf seem like two of the most desperate clubs out there at the minute.  They are throwing cash at anyone who will listen.  It's a little pathetic, really.

Chris Scott is like Ross Lyon. Has no idea how to rebuild a list and instead tries to quick fix the issue through recruiting plodders.

I read somewhere that its potentially going to cost North two 1st rounders for Josh Kelly. In their position i see that as a HUGE risk.

Is Josh Kelly even the type of player they need?  Or is he the sort who sort of transcends that?  Two first rounders is a huge amount for a club that doesn't have a whole lot of decent kids coming through.  If I were them I'd be after a key forward as Waite is almost done and Brown is almost doing it down there on his own.  The fact that they are, supposedly, offering Kelly a 9 year contract shows how pathetic and desperate they really are.

Not with that goddam man-bun.

get a haircut, hippy!

They won't let him into Victoria with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he'd be a restricted free agent, yes?

Which means that for Melbourne to get him, we'd need to offer a better contract than what would be offered by a bottoming out, desperate for good news, lost all their best stars, clinging to credibility, club with huge salary cap space to work with.

Or we could trade our next three year's worth of draft picks, if he was, mysteriously, urgently wanting to come across for less money than Freo would offer him.

Can't see it happening for us, though no denying Fyfe is an extraordinary weapon.

Did a wikipedia search on some backmen and their gettability. Rampe from NSW, pass. Talia from Kilmore/EFC, pass. J. McGovern? WA, pass. Alir Alir from Brisbane, pass. Phil Davis from Canberra, pass. Rance, pass.

Steven May, Melbourne Grammar. Ahh. A toff in a blazer! Perfect target! :P

Yep steven may is a good one to go for, but I still like Lever. Anyway, I would love to get Josh Kelly from GWS. That would be an absolute find, the kind of mid I think would do us a world of good. We should throw a good offer on the line. btw, is he still contracted st the end of the season?

That's the equivalent of being rescued from a sinking Titanic, by the Lusitania.

What's McGovern's (Weagles) contract status?

He wont leave WA. His brother will be playing with him next year.

Hawthorn are very keen on Steven May. Would be a great get if he's not already committed there.

Our specific need is a quality defender or a silky skilled/quick outside player. But any team would be mental not to chase Fyfe. Once-in-a-decade footballer. Probably won't get him but conversations with his manager must be had.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
