I put a post on Facebook of 4 x $750,000 for Jake and his dad liked my post so near enough for me. What is that pre CBA? $550,000? Fair and reasonable if you ask me

not quite

550K x 1.2 = 660k not 750k

750K / 1.2 = 625k pre cba

As a side note, something else Mahoney said (which we probably already know but I haven't heard it from myself from the club) is that Lever would help form part of a strong backline with Jetta, Hibberd, Hunt, Frost & OMac.

Didn't mention TMac, which I think signals quite clearly their intentions for him next season.

TMac will surely play the Watts role, which both terrifies and excites me.

Thanks DC, much appreciated.

Melb making big play for pick 2 from GCS by using pick 10 and Watts and exchanging other picks. Back up for Lever going to draft.

Now I'm not sure if this is still the case, but didn't Luke Ball go into the draft and said he would not go to any other club except the pies? All the other clubs left him slip straight into the pies laps.

Unsure, it was messaged to me, apparently on Twitter.

We have had some honest dealings with GCS before so that isn't beyond imaginings.  They were in the pick trades that helped us get Weideman and Oliver.

That is a nice rumour to spread.

Keeps Adelaide on their toes: Crows take 10 and 27 or get zip.

Poker anyone...

God I hate Dwayne Russel. I know it's a strong word, but I just straight up hate him.

this is hilarious!   Adelaide behaving like children.

I really am still in shock that we are a destination club. the fact that he hasnt considered Hawks/cats/pies etc...

Go Dees!   bring on the game against the crows next year!

Get excited, it means he won't kick out from FB to other sides, gifting them goals.

Did he mention if the offer was for four or five years? I'm sure Lever himself said it was four but since then I've heard five being reported.

No mention of duration.

4 Years at $750-800 is what was mentioned on Fox Sports News.

Just imagine if clubs decided to not be dicks about trading players. It's not like this is the first or last time a player is going to request to leave Adelaide. If you build a good relationship with different clubs, you could 1 day be getting a player who wants to come to you for unders. Even though i loved Howe and Frawley, they wanted to leave and i was happy to let them. At the end of the day the Football club will still be standing and we got to see Jayden Hunt and other young talented player come into the side because of it.

I don't understand Adelaide's gameplan here... the best thing that can possibly happen for them is if Lever says he's willing to possibly consider a different Victorian club to get his old club a better deal.  Any chance of any good faith from the Lever camp is now shot to hell by the aggressive attitude of every official and players who comments have been made public.

If they ever wonder why quality players are leaving their club, look to their attitudes and player relationships.

In terms of the threat of Lever going into the draft, lets not forget that Nth hold pick 3, and have stupid amounts of money that they were using to try and get Martin and Kelly. They are not a destination club, but they can certainly match our financial offer to Lever if the draft is the way it heads...

I think the fact we are looking at maybe getting pick 2 from GC is going to make them [censored] themselves. They'll bend on pick 10 and 27 or let him go for free and try hold the high ground.

Lever did say he only wants Melbourne. Now i understand it's not set in stone, but if he really wants us, refusing to play for another club and waiting to get picked up by us is a quick way to make yourself welcome to your new clubs fans.

Jade Rawlings, Nick Stevens, Luke Ball (.... almost)

Lever can say he wants Melbourne all he likes, until the point that it breaks down and he heads to the draft. If it falls through and he goes to the draft, other clubs only have to match his asking price. Nth Melbourne and the Saints would be able to easily cover Levers asking price. Saints don't need his type, so might be fine, but Nth need to plug a huge number of holes everywhere on their list. Collingwood would not be too far off getting him and have a pick too and a need for his type as well.

Going to the draft is a very big risk for Lever and the MFC and Adelaide get nothing. Doesn't work for any party!

WOW!  No way Lever would stay at Crows after that.

Not happy campers going into the GF.

That mood may have contributed to the reported infighting during the second quarter and their lack of effort.

Shame the team didn't play as well as Lever did - they might have a Premiership Cup.

I agree given Lever has decided on the Dees they have no other choice but to work out a trade with us.

It seems that Adelaide's past history of losing players is really pissing them off and now are "using" Lever in making a statement about other players thinking of leaving in the future.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
