So unfortunately fellas I'm working today so I won't be attending the pre season game today v Williamstown. Will be listening to today's Dee's v St Kilda game on the radio though!

Don't worry Drunkn! We have got both games covered!

Close finish looming with Port leading Casey by 2 points at ¾ time.

KC did we beat both Willi and Port?

After a slow start, it looks like the Demons hit their straps at the end of the game with a 7 goal to 1 final quarter.

Scores

Casey Demons 2.0.12 6.3.39 9.6.60 16.9.105

Williamstown 2.6.18 6.7.43 9.8.62 10.9.69

Development League

Casey Demons  3.3.21 7.7.49 10.10.70 12.11.83

Williamstown 0.4.4 4.5.29 5.7.37 6.10.44

From afl.com.au ~

Midfielder Dom Tyson accumulated 24 possessions, 16 inside 50s and kicked two goals in the Demons' 36-point win.

Casey coach Justin Plapp told AFL.com.au that Tyson "performed really strongly" in his third game back from a knee injury.

"He's had a delayed start because of injury … so he's going through the process of building time and we were really happy with his performance," Plapp said.

Ruckman Jake Spencer (28 hit-outs, 10 disposals) and Dean Kent (20 disposals) were other notable standouts in the VFL practice match win.

And Keilty reports too please.

Losing Smith we are short down back - a third tall defensive option would change our match-ups quite significantly.

Edit: was it when Smith went off in the first that the Saints got their run on?

Yes it was around that time. It seemed to take us a little while to settle again. Smith was playing well I thought.

I wasn't at the game but Keilty played forward, although he didn't kick a goal he did well apparently. He has played forward the last 2 pre season games because the coaches had the belief that if he worked on his forward/ruck role they could find a spot for him in the seniors.

But since they know he can play down back, I wonder if that'll change now they are lacking defensive depth in Garland and Smith?

No, they were already running all over us and Smith's injury just added to the despair we were all feeling at that time.

Dom Tyson....24 possessions ....16 inside 50's & 2 goals in a very strong performance....Kent 20 possessions & Specer 20 hit outs ....(off AFL website)

Thanks for that but can't seem to find it? Any mention of Frost?

Frost didn't line up with Bugg the holdover for the AFL game, the only Demon listed player in the back-line for Casey was Pat McKenna who didn't do to bad and was tidy with his disposal.  Casey struggled in the first 3 quarters before the AFL listed players dominated the last quarter, Tyson ran the game out very well and probably had 10 disposals & 2 goals in the last quarter alone.   Kielty spent the whole game in the forward line and was largely ineffectual.

Brief wrap-up on the AFL site - 'Around the State Leagues' in the Don't Miss section. Not much else to add/no mention of Frost.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
