My initial comments were all tongue in cheek, as I carried on with it a bit further. But his response was to me being sarcastic in regards to players being given a program and it's got much more legs than necessary.

I dont think our players would not be under instruction in regards to running at pre season.

I don't think they could get away with being lazy in the early sessions to improve later in the pre season and look better.

I didn't think I needed to explain that all those comments had my tongue planted firmly in my cheek

I find it much easier to make comments that nobody understands.....

Yes, I've noticed that.

Saty with pillow, Saty's mate packing a pistol, or very small hand gun, Goodwin adopts defensive taekwondo stance. Man on grassy knoll runs away.

Just an observation:  many seem to be wearing watches.  Do / should they remove them when doing any sort of tackling drills at all?  Could do a serious finger injury to the tackler.

They keep their watches on when there are shady characters lurking on the sidelines.

lets hope kents terrible ear ring and  prince alberts are left in the locker.

Most were timing themselves for laps. I assume when they change from their running shoes they likely drop the watch as well.

no, they keep their watches on so they remember left from right

I think you'll find they're fitbits, not watches. So much more than just a watch.

I recognise a few of them are wearing fitbit watches. These record your heartbeat as well as how many footsteps you are taking and they also have a GPS to measure how far you have run and possibly even how fast. It can all be uploaded to an app which has graphs to show all of this at the same time. It looked like a few of the other watches were also training computers which would have this info. The GPS gizmos they have in their shirts that are directly connected to the Club's computers don't give the players any info while they are out there but these watches do.

wifey has same watch....quite remarkable the amount of info you get off of it.  Records sleep as well.

Is it possible to quarantine the pointless and worthless personal chit-chat between posters from the real news about our players and their progress over the pre-season? Like many other readers I highly value the training observations but don't want to have to scroll through multiple pages of nonsense to find the information I want. Perhaps a "mirror" topic where the observations can also be posted for their juvenile fun without sullying the main topic with the important information? This issue will only get worse throughout the pre-season when these reports are the only football news that sustains us. The players, coaches and committed posters deserve to be treated with more respect than is shown currently.

Tiers, that's life isn't it. Trolling through endless flotsam & jetsam searching for gems. Listening to fools and idiots, reading reams of illiterate rantings. Toughen up princess, this is demonland.

It's good in theory but I don't want to miss out on who is or should / shouldn't be wearing lycra in the crowd at training.

No he's my bodyguard, he has a gun in his pocket......(which makes a change)

Anyone would be happy to meet Goody, just checking with us that the game plan he is going to implement is ok for 2017, we gave it a tick of approval

Given the amount of abuse you get around here, I fully understand your need for a bodyguard, Saty!

Now you have figured out the answer for Kent's poor form yesterday, he had forgotten to take it out and it came to a head halfway through the session

Think those watches are fitbits or whatever they were called, understand about the shady characters, my scooter actually didn't go walkabout yesterday, could be the fact that Max Gawn was not in attendance though

Was he required to be there? He's going into his 5th season so not sure if he was, might be using the extra week or so he has off to get back into shape before being required to 'officially' be there? That's not to say he looks way out of shape but I imagine some guys get back to close to full training a week or so before pre-season even begins.

Maybe Kent's considered a fourth year player (has played 4 years since 2013) and was subsequently required to be there.

And maybe Oliver and Weideman are still considered first year players.

Oliver and Weideman are in a different category to Kent as both played in the VFL Grand Final so start back later.

Yes.  When I  said watches,  I really meant those gizmos but my concern re finger injuries when and if they wear them in contact sessions stands.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
