I didn't connect it to anything at EFC and know it is not banned from an ASADA view.  Nor is it illegal in a medical sense.

But the players are still guinea pigs, as is anyone who participates in a trial for new pharmaceuticals.  My point was that hopefully players know what potential risks the product holds as it as not yet been fully tested on humans.  That is what their Phase 2 testing will be.

According to the CEO of the distributing company the product has been on the market for 70 years so it's been more than fully tested on humans. Just not used in this way until recently.

Is that an update or did I miss something - the article referred to Phase 2 testing before' it' being released to the general market in a few years ie not needing special permission to use. 

Nonetheless, I'm in full agreement with your original post that you/I hope MFC are not into it and that everyone especially the AFL, has there eyes wide open.

afl are saying not approved as in recommended but approved as in allowed or nothing to stop it

company is trying to treat approved as meaning afl sanctioned

This drug has been in use for years. I can't recall exactly but it was something like women's issues in the uterus. This is simply a use they have discovered like - oh, it takes away hip and knee pain as well? Great let's try it on athletes. Hardly dangerous stuff.

It would be like saying Aspirin is great for headaches but we just discovered it increases blood flow to the achilles tendon.

The drug stuff will haunt them for years.  You cant just put something like that behind you so easily as a club or as a player.  Any player who stayed at Essendon after all that made a huge mistake.

Anyone having a small dejavu with the crows run of soft tissue injuries? It was the first sign all those years ago that the bombers were in fact drug cheats and that that was the cause of it. Surely no club could ever repeat that mistake?? But it IS interesting. I'll keep watching that space.

It dragged on for years, the club are now known as Essendrug (at least thats what I call them).

Their favorite son Hird left in disgrace and may never return. Half their team was suspended by WADA.   This stuff will linger for a long time. They are shambles right now.

 Drug and culture stuff aside I don't rate their list either, their midfield is putrid and they have wasted their top picks on small mids who don't get their hands dirty.  Reminds me of Melbournes drafting circa 2008-2013.

The problem with this theory is that Essendon played finals last year. It's hard to see how that fits your narrative. It's just possible that they're struggling this year for other reasons, not the least being that three of their losses have been against potentially good teams (Freo, Collingwood and Melbourne). Add to that, their two wins are, somewhat ironically, probably against teams better than the ones they've lost to.

I could never understand the hype about the players they traded in, they traded just more of the same they already had on their list. Stringer will never work hard enough only runs one way, adam sadd is quick but is no good one on one he can't defend, Devon smith goes alright, parish will never be a great inside mid he has the body of a outside player, they don't have any tough players, their captain is a little boy who can't stand up to Goddard. With Goddard in their team they will go nowhere, he is past his best and demands from players what he won't do himself, no one listens to a hypocrite just makes him look like a big mouth.
