    On the Wiggins affair just like the Bombers it needs to be made an offence for the player  to ingest something without proper records. This might stop the fiasco of the dog ate my homework excuse.

    Finally what does this say about the recent dominance of the UK in track and road cycling. Naively I was thinking that the sport had cleaned itself up.

    I'm glad I'm not under that scutiny. I,ve ingested some late night souvlaki's that have left me wondering.

    I remember at the time thinking there was something dodgy about him suddenly shutting up shop. 

    And something improper too. He met with someone or some influential supporter. Im sure i read it in the paper.

    Im not sure if the author actually expected us to believe that line but I, like you, read that incredulously and laughed out loud. 

    lets see, they injected their players with PED's en masse for a full season.  They then had a viral spate of soft tissue injuries that completely gave the game away. They were tipped off ( a move the AFL must regret daily)  They then burned the records, denied everything and hired a hit man to shut everyone up. They then tried to run both ASASDA and WADA out of town , shame them as much as possible and just litigate the crap out of everything that moved on the story. Hird who at the VERY least was a part of it if not the instigator, took the heat. But not before it was made clear to us all that really the AFL was to blame and going on air for an hour to say how innocent he was. 

    But no "tanking" is what REALLY bring the game into disrepute. Now we are endlessly bombared with "returning heroes" stories and "Jobes new love"stories and "Poor Hird" stories..like they were all set upon for no reason. This story is THE biggest scandal in the AFL in my lifetime, perhaps in its entire history ...and somehow its all swept away now. The club should have been  suspended for a year.

    In fact, the AFL had an immediate plan in place to lighten the club's burden during the period of the players' suspension by allowing it to supplement its list with top up players (with no assistance to other clubs that had lost players who had in the interim transferred from the EFC). Within that plan was its decision that notwithstanding that Essendon's record in 2016 would inevitably be adversely affected by the unavailability of players, most of who would be returning in 2017, this factor would not be taken into account in determining the club's position in the 2016 AFL draft. Hence, a gift of the first pick in that draft and improved position in other rounds in a draft already tainted and skewed by the academy system.

    Well done AFL. It was the least you could do after all those years and in particular the way your own Tribunal stuffed up the initial hearing into the doping saga.

    Someone was certain to spill the beans at some stage.  Looks like it is only just starting!  Wallis has always played mean not caring who he hurt in the process.  Hasn't changed.

    Just hope our coach is not brought up in the allegations related to staff injecting.  The AFL declared him innocent so not a problem but that wouldn't stop media making a fuss if they want to deflect attention.  Goodwin is now the most senior ex Ess person still in the AFL so would be an easy target.  It would be a terrible distraction for us.

    It was never going to happen, if there was a secret tape of a asada  meeting talking about how they were going to stich the bummers up, of course no tape exist, because the 34 are a bunch of cheating lying, why would anyone need to lie about having vitamins injections.

    We should've stayed a million miles away but no.
    We traded in their drug taking players and made one of their dodgy assistant coaches our senior coach.

    So the latest "bombshell" from Slobbo is that Wallis and Elliott are suing the club. Their evidence includes how the club ripped off the medicare system.

    It's amazing how in some cases how clear transgressions like the allged abusing of the Medicare rebate for the thousands of injections just simply get ignored.

    If Worksafe came to my workplace I would be heading to the slammer had I done the same thing as the EFC. Why do authorities look away?

    Having just read Mick Warner's story I am very dubious. I think its very dangerous to assume that the claims of the "disgruntled employees" are necessarily accurate. Essendon has apparently stated that the claims are false and have been reported to the Police. I'm not sure what the Police involvement is about although if the Essendon FC position is correct, perhaps it is to investigate whether the employees have made fraudulent claims to WorkSafe. If any part of their claims can be proven to be false it would then bring into question the rest of their statements, whether they are accurate or not. While this never-ending saga has conditioned us to believe that anything the club did is beyond imagination, just maybe what's being written about here did not actually happen.

    And who amongst ever thought the the AFL-linked John Elliott who would get into the most trouble would be this particular one?

    Apparently they are suggesting blackmail...

    Unfortunately for Wallis he played the party line during the scandal.

    His relationship with the truth and his record keeping in the past will not help him in this case.

    Have to agree with you about 'disgruntled employees'...seeing what Robinson picked up on the way through might have been a factor.

Inappropriate demands and threats made upon Essendon Football Club have been reported to the AFL integrity department and on its advice, Victoria Police have been contacted."

    Elliot's allegation is reported to be a request for a meeting with Gatto, not 'dealings' as Tanner puts it.  Elliot is not alleging a meeting or 'dealings' took place so he may be correct.

    I could guess what the 'demands and threats' were!  Does anyone else get a sense those were made some time ago and the Worksafe claim is a result of no satisfaction from EFC. 

    Wallis and Elliot are disgruntled.  It seems most other people walked away with a bit of coin in their pockets but they didn't.  A Worksafe claim for stress is their way of getting it.  The bombers should have paid them off as well.

    Although one could also look at Robinson's payment as hush money. If you take that track, then these two 'disgruntled employees' might be saying the very things Robinson was paid not to say, instead of looking at a big compo cheque and saying "me too please".

    It's all conjecture for now. TBH I wouldn't put anything past the EFC though.

    You'd hope its false, yet more importantly, for Wallis and Elliot to put this forward, they'll need plenty (and I mean conclusive) evidence that these things occurred - and I hope their advisors have got multiple copies... otherwise it's all seen as conjecture.

    The police! May as well have reported it to the janitor!

    I don't have much confidence the Police finding concrete evidence to support Wallis or Elliot's worksafe claims. 

    But they may well find sufficient evidence to support Tanner's complaint of 'inappropriate demands and threats'.  

    The little guys don't usually win when faced with the might of the big end of town.

      The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

      Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds. 
      This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
