Jesse Hogan re-signs to end of Season 2019

I'm still just so pumped about this!!!

The more we find out the more I love Jesse. He has clearly been very loyal in the face of big money offers and the lure of home. Also unlike a lot of other young players in this competition who seem to think you are entitled to success by jumping ship to a power club ASAP (cough Jaeger Cough). Jesse seems determined to drag us up the ladder.

So pleased for him. Can't wait to chant his name in the stands next year as he kicks bag after bag!!

Ps: Welcome back rpfc

You could possibly credibly claim that you introduced Aaron Vandenberg to Jason Taylor.

No, but I did play a game with him back in 2011 when he was fat.

No idea what to do with him so we put the best mid I have ever captained on the half back flank. He had 50 touches and won the game for us...

Jeez, thanks for the searching party thread... I got promoted earlier in the year at work and then I stupidly agreed to coach a reserves team up here in the AFL Canberra so my free time was minus hours...

Getting back in the habit now with trade week looming...

Couldn't let Jesse have the limelight after his recent signing could you? Had to come in and steal some of his thunder didn't you? Some of us feared you were with our sweet prince Harambe, it's good to see you back,  good timing btw

Interesting to see Hoges being a lot more vocal in the press waxing lyrical about Goody and the emerging group. I think he is hooked. Hallelujah!

The 'fat' Flying Dutchaman...

I am the fat arthritically crippled member of the master race. Played as a 6 ft ruckman for Sunshine Under 16's. Slaughtered Aaron Sandilands in a Final once. In my dreams. But did kick 2 Majors...

I felt towards the end of the year a lot of Melbourne fans were turning on him a bit, I think as a defence mechanism to expectations that he would ditch us. Now that he's committed and essentially said he's in it for the long haul I hope those people give him every bit of support and credit as he could've taken some big money.

Fair call - bracing ourselves for the overwhelming disappointment and despair associated with his proposed departure was an entirely understandable and inevitable position for Dee's supporters to take.

Thankfully when we got the 'tap on the shoulder' this time, it was to celebrate him staying rather than a sign that the rogering was finished.

In fairness to those fans, a few of them are still recovering from the $cully burn.

Imagine the roar when he kicks his first goal next season in Round 1 as we go on to win by 60 points.......

Welcome back.

There was a thread dedicated to your absence but it got shut down.

Distinct and predictable lack of Flamingdees posting since Jesse re-signed.

I bet he's sitting on a park bench somewhere listening to The Sound of Silence on his Walkman.

Is it definitely locked in we'll be playing the bombers round 1 next year?

Or devoting his time to a suspect twitter account.

I recon Jesse was overawed last season.

For a young fella, having just won the rising star, and the expectations of him,and as the season wore on,

the possibility of the 8,the interviews, the cameras, the commentators, the eyes of the world on him.,no wonder

he nearly tripped over his own feet when kicking for goal.

I really believe as he matures and a fresh season begins and the experience of the last, he will explode in 2017.

There is a distinct lack of 'america de cali' in this thread as well.  He's gone very, very quiet after he spent a few months potting the bloke and hoping he wouldn't re-sign.  Such a shame he isn't man enough to come back here and wish Jesse well after everything he said.

And admirable restraint from GNF who has resisted any 'i told you so' posts. He was right on the money with his posts about jessie's contract scenario, both his first one and the more recent ones flagging the complexities in the situation as a result of his Dads health issues. Good job GNF and thanks for the info. It won't convince the haters though.

That is the most hilariously cringeworthy music video you can see. And I've seen them all.

How can you seriously release that.

I like the whole Andre Agassi playing Magneto theme though.

It was reported yesterday that Jordan Lewis selected the Demons as his (only) club to approach and that Hogan was a major attraction (paraphrasing the story).

Even if the Lewis trade does not happen, that he has said that goes a long way to making us a 'destination' club.  It is reasonable to think that other players will think, '...gee if Lewis thinks that maybe we should have a closer look...'  Lewis did us a big big  favour nominating the Dees!  Put us on the radar, so to speak!

The value of Jesse's signature cannot be underestimated in making us a 'destination' club.  Mahoney alluded to that at the time of the announcement.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
