Harmes (wouldn't get it.)  Stretch (maybe but it would gut the supporters given the father ...son)... Watts (perhaps but ditto what I said about Stretch) After that it gets even harder.

It belongs in the Hartlett thread but - we'd have to give our 2017 1st rounder.  It's possible ANB could be worked into a deal.  A 3rd club like GC with lots of 2016 first rounders may need to be involved.  It's do-able.

With the 4 already let go, the Roos will not lose Wells. There would be blood on Arden Street. He will get more money and stay.

You are of course right Redleg but it's fun to think about it.

The deal will not just be about money... it will be length of offer.... there might be some leverage there for a club willing to take a risk.

By the way.... how do these offers that also include an offer as an assistant coach after retirement work with the salary cap. Seem to be hearing a few of those around this year or am I just imagining it.

2017 1st Round Pick to GWS for Pick 15 and fringe player eg James Stewart (in case Hogan seeks a trade).

Then send Pick 15 with someone eg Neal-Bullen to Port for Hartlett.

That's how you get it done.

Would Port trust us ever again on a player "with potential" trade?

Don't affect salary cap, as not a player when they become a coach.

If we had drafted Wines and Toump was there at their pick, they would have picked him. They were happy to get him back for nothing and hope he fired.

Ah yes! Buyer beware i guess.....

I would just think they would want something more substantial than a fringe player that played a handful of unremarkable games and 15.  15 & Garlett/Vandenberg perhaps? I don't know whether that's overs or unders considering Garletts form. 15 or ANB/Michie/Dawes/JKH seems too little.

With North's window completely closed (not that it was ever really open), and Brad Scott shafting 4 of his mates, maybe he would be keen to jump ship.

A free hit in terms of not having to trade draft picks, but will obviously take a fair bit of cap space for a year or two.

The exact sort of player we need, and if we think we could get 3 years out of him, then I would go for it. But obviously 3 years is a big ask given his injury history.

Wells is good enough to take a chance on.

Those worries about cap space next year, why? All our best players are under 22. We have been over paying our players for years. In 4 years our cap will be an issue certainly not now.

Just give him the 500 Dawes was on. Or the 400 Dunn and grimes etc are on

They can't blame us for that.  Up to them to do their own due diligence.

Arrogant sods thought all they had to do was "de-Melbourne" him

Well now he has to be de-Ported.

Back to Wells - I'd rather not go near him. At his best he's undeniably a jet, one of those rare players who can change the course of a game in a ten minute burst. However his age & injury record should have us steering clear.

No, I'm pretty sure you haven't.

Given you're going into pretty much every trading thread and dropping his name, I certainly get that you want it to happen.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
