Have you heard that we are chasing Hibberd?

Hope he doesn't run too fast so we can catch him

If true, then my god this club has issues. They spent the farm to get Aish across from the Lions. Why trade him after one year? Especially considering Aish has done very little to increase his value over the last 12 months.

They might be thinking quit while there is some value another year like the last 3 and he will be worthless.

Crowed about it a fair bit at the time IIRC.

T Mitchell to the hawks for pick 14 and a swap of laters. In principle deal that will be finalised next week

According to the purple one both Aish and Greenwood have been put on the trade table.

Aish started to come good at the end of the year. I doubt the Pies would shop him. Hard to find decent outside runners and they need them.

Greenwood they'd sell for any good offer. They've got Pendles, Trelaor, Adams, Wells, De Goey ahead of him as inside mids and Wills and Crisp for depth. He was picked up as a cover as they lost Beams and is now superfluous. Not sure anyone will want him given the Pies gave him a fairly big deal I believe.

Great work by Hawks who now have 2 of their targets done in first 3 days of trade week.

Only O'Meara to do.

Geez that's a bargain for Mitchell. Getting fair sick of these constant finals clubs just being able to get away with the minimum currency for guns like that.

Compare it to Richmond who will have to give up pick 6 for Prestia, who is about on par with Mitchell (if not worse).

And this from the interview:

the 34-year-old, who recently won his fifth best and fairest award at the Hawks, revealed it was coach Alastair Clarkson who put forward the option of joining the Eagles.

"I didn't go to the club and say I want to go to West Coast," Mitchell told SEN radio.

"Clarko came over and said, as a friend, 'Is that something you'd be interested in?'

"And you could have knocked me over with a feather to be honest."

I always believe when someone uses this expression they are being anything but.

How on earth can Sydney put 5 years into this guy who becomes a gun inside midefielder, then not get a top pick in return. I cannot believe how lucky Hawthorn go at topping up their list.

They just never seem to have to develop their own like other clubs.

It seems like a very quiet trade period for us which feels a bit weird as past years we are quite active during this time.

That's a bargain for a player who's just reaching his prime.

So sick of hearing about Hawthorn

Jarrod Pickett would be a good target. Top 5 pick only a year or two ago and has great pace and kicking skills. He could develop into the outside midfielder we need. Media says Carlton the front runners for him. Is there anything we could do to bring him across to us?

That hurts.

Definitely a case for querying what the hell they're doing over at Collingwood.

It took them more than half a season to build up Aish's confidence and get him to the point where he was playing decent footy and then this. I wonder how the kid feels after hearing that news?

Hate the bloody Hawks but you have to admire there ability to get the player they want.

Traelor - Two times pick seven.

Carlisle - Pick five.

Prestia - Likely pick six.

And Tom Mitchell to the Hawks for pick 14. Burger me.........

To top it off we're struggling to do a deal to get Hibberd

maybe we need Graham Wright to come and negotiate for us

It's only related to where they finish, all the other clubs mentioned got their deals done as well but just had to use the picks they have?

If we finish top 8 next season and have a good player want to come to us we will also get a deal done for a similar pick because that is just how it works these days.

Seriously, everyone needs to get over the Hawks, they don't do anything other than lure players and to be honest I doubt the path they are heading down at the moment.

We will beat them next year.

I've heard, and i hope someone else on here can confirm that we've at least expressed interest in the following

Sam Durdin ( not sure if the spelling is correct, but young talented North player who doesn't get a good run in the 1's)

Brandon Matera

Jake Barrett

Jackson Merret

Nathan Vardy

this is not to say i think we'll land all or any of these players or my opinion that we should chase all or any of them, i am simply curious if anyone else is hearing this and can confirm any of these.

Still surprised so many are so quick to talk them down. They've averaged a premiership every 3 years for the last 15. They know what they're doing...

Yet another gift for the Hawks.  Makes me sick.

Radio saying West Coast could get him for a draft pick in the 50's. Seems really weird he would move interstate when there are multiple clubs in Melbourne who would take him for, probably, more money, more opportunity and more draft currency.

Good with sign language too......

Have only heard about Vardy, but would be pretty happy to get Durdin in.

Can't imagine North cutting him lose just as they're going down the youth path, though.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
