Or Noble actually did say this, Vogon, but the trade discussion never went any further. There are shades.

Sorry, but no. Mahoney would have said we'd looked at it but not proceeded. He wouldn't hide it. But you of course can believe what you like, no malice or criticism intended.

Probably wasn't a very funny joke.  Was just amused after reading the last 5 pages of this thread, where every post is "it's not happening, DER".

It's not happening? But my mum's sisters brothers cousin's postie used to barrack for Fitzroy and he thinks it's a 23% chance with a slight margin for error.

It may be that the club has some off-field role for him?

[Chris Dawes]    I speculated on this a while ago   If he were to be moved to some off filed assistant coach / mentor rôle would the final year of his (now non playing) contract still be part of the salary cap?

I agree this could be the case, I also think some of the posters who claim to have inside knowledge are just narcissistic.

I honestly think you could get information from the player himself and it could end up wrong.

The only sources I would genuinely trust would be the list managers as they facilitate the deals.

Not deleted. Just hidden from public view. I like to keep your perverted salaciousness to myself.

I just find it very interesting that the parties haven't shut this down themselves,

For those that think GD was lied to you realise your saying the Operations Manager of Brisbane lied to him and fabricated a story about a complex trade scenario and that the same scenario was verified from a separate reliable source.

Personally I don't find that feasible, but each to their own.

I don't have enough time left in my life to waste an equal amount reading a thread with as much substance as this one

At what point did you realize you were wasting your time? Page 7 or page 15?

Is it possible that you could fall into a similar trap if, say, there's talk of Dunn being traded?

Unless I've missed something, he never said he spoke with Noble directly, it's just that he was the source of the information.

Source- both the new Brisbane football operations manager; and my uncle, fitzroy great, Brisbane scout and father of current afl captain. Oh and for any sceptics which I'm sure there are, this is out of the mouth of both.

He clearly spoke to one. If it was John Murphy who had spoken to Noble who was Murphy's source why would Murphy lie?

What do you think is most likely?

PS: It would be very funny if it happened!

I'd say this is Mahoney doing negotiations really well.

Bris probably said to Melb, up your offer cause we have other clubs interested.

Mahoney, merely saying, "meh, he's a nice to have, you can keep that toxic captain if you really have other buyers".  Leaks something publicly to state we're not interested which is semi true/semi false.

Your move Brisbane as to how desperate you are to offload the biggest problem to your culture re build.  Come back to us if you want to talk.

Melbourne saying...be great if we get him cheap, but we're also non plussed if we don't get him.

Just my take....or...we may have never been interested at all.

Probably worth closing this thread perhaps now?

To all those who constantly call for a thread to be closed (and I'm not picking on you Abe), may I remind everyone of the third post on the first page of the thread now entitled WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS.

These are the immortal words of deefella -

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
