Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would have thought that answered the question?

I was talking generally when talking about players going back to the VFL, I don't think Hogan should be dropped this week, but I also think that should he need to go back to the VFL to work on things at some stage it's not as big a deal as some here seem to want to make it to be.

The Dogs have a different attitude. They have dropped Stringer back to the VFL.

I definitely think over the pre season the club should get someone to come in and just work on his goal kicking, get that right and Hogan becomes a much better player, he missed 2-3 very easy shots again on the weekend and that's been the difference between 40 goals and maybe 55-60 and being right up the top of the coleman medal tally, and probably us in the 8

Clearly the answer is for Roos to approach Bolton and ask him (nicely of course) not to double-team Hogan.

That way, if he spends the day one-out against a defender, we can all find out if he is genuinely out of form or just overwhelmed by the opposition.

(Just saw that Weideman is in so maybe Hogan will be playing CHF)

Pedo can crash packs for about half the price binman.

One event does not maketh a forward. He isnt hitting/crashing packs the way he was last season or earlier this season mate.

He looks a diff player at the moment.

Probably a lock this week but he has much work to do over summer if he wants to take the next step

'One event does not maketh a forward' Huh?

I used the Kent goal an an example. There are many others i could have chosen. Of course Pedo can and does crash the packs but it is not either or. You need a minimum of two big players crashing packs (Dawes and Hogan or Hogan and Pedo). Again as Viney notes it is about structure. Take one of the bigs away and the structure suffers.

Agianst the hawks Weed still competed so was the second big, but given he is relatively small Gawn played forward quite a bit to provide that player who brings the ball to ground.

But all that aside Hogan is a gun. Yes he has been down in the last month but he has still contributed. You don't drop guns unless they are not contributing at all. Honestly who would be surprised if he came out this week and smashed the blues. Even if he doesn't Weitering will go to him. Which means he won't be on Watts or Pedo. Happy days for those two.

I agree he isn't there yet. Of course he isn't. He's a kid. Apologies if i implied you suggested he should be dropped.

Amazing how fans can turn on their favourite player after a few games below his best.

A young player in his second season playing the hardest position on the ground against the oppositions best defender, often drawing a second player, now becomes the target because the punters are disappointed.  Yes, he's missed a few goals - go look at Gunston against us - yes he's still learning and yes his body language is not ideal but those close to him say it's his disappointment in himself, not his team mates, that this reflects.  Look at the replay last week and the thumbs up to players who looked for him and he failed to mark.

The kids a gun, the punters are sadly misguided and calls for his demotion laughable.

What's amazing is that you selectively edited my post to remove context and then failed to realise that the rest of what I wrote largely sums up what you were saying.

All good mate. If there was a game he's going to find some form in it's surely this week against the lowley Blue baggers.

Thr naming of Weids is a clever one by the FD IMO and shld work in putting Hulk and Weids on notice that solid efforts and decent performance will be rewarded.

List is being beautifully managed of late

Not trying to be disingenuous but what's your point with this post?

A couple of days ago Nasher was lamenting the typical "group think" on Demonland, because some were suggesting Harmes be dropped.

Timing didn't work out well for old mate Nash this week.

Oh, ok. Thanks for clarifying.

I avoid commenting on which players might get dropped, one because i don't like bagging players (though understand suggesting players get dropped does not by definition mean bagging them) but mainly because i rarely get it right.

But without being smart after the fact i reckon it is a fair enough call to drop Harmes. I watched the replay and whilst you can't knock his endevour his ability to consistently hit targets is a concern when playing on the HB.

I heard an interview where he said it was an area he needed to work on and i have real confidence he will improve this aspect of his game. In some ways he reminds me of a young Nathan Jones in terms of his attack on the ball, his team first ethos but also in his desire to improve.

I was quoting you saying "others".  I was actually posting in support of your view.

I agree it was ambiguous.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
