Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Would any lift their assessment of Roos if we can string a run together these last 7 games and make finals?

Apples and oranges look at what Roos inherited compared to Beveridge, one of the worst run clubs on and off field in the history of the game.

One of Willy Wonkas oompah loompahs could have taken that list to the finals.

He's proved that.

Yes ....the nucleus of the list may have been there at the Swans but Roos tweaked them ...bought them together & won a premiership...McCartney bought a list together & Beveridge tweaked the list (hasn't yet won a premiership)  The point is everything has to be right for all the "Gods" to align & to win the ultimate prize but for someone to come in & to turn around "off field & on field " in basically the leagues "basketcase" in 3 years & to leave us with a very good chance of playing finals is to me ....amazing ....I so love watching us now & thinking that most games we have a chance of winning is just so rewarding ... After 30 plus years of misery I feel "hopeful" thank you " Roosy" !!

Well said. I find it very interesting that a lot of people are not crediting Roosy with enough

i think most have forgotten how bad it was when Neeld left. Right through the entire club.

PJ was on the phone to Roos for 6 months to get him.

He deserves double billing.

Clarkson sits comfortably alongside Smith and McHale as one of the best coaches of all time. Comparing Roos to that standard is a bit unfair.

I wasn't the one who brought him up, I was just responding to the discussion of someone else.

7 wins, tomorrow 8.

Mea culpa. Maths gone to pot.

There are various aspects to what Roos has indeed achieved and there can be no doubt we WERE the basket case many of us feared. . Roos has been a panacea , an antidote even for the maladies that  afflicted Melbourne.

But all is not right yet. As good as Roos is I don't believe he's the game day coach to win us finals. As good as he is we have yet to beat the team we play today, lowly StKilda.

Let's hope we do. It will mean much. Otherwise we've done nothing but cone full circle to mediocrity.

Roos is clearly the best coach we have had since Neil Craig ...:) 5-10 years seems to be about the lifetime of a good senior coach, in that those who don't cut it don't last 5 years, and that those who do rarely go on for more than 10  (with the odd exception like Kevin Sheedy). IMHO that means we can't compare Roos with Northey or Daniher, no matter how tempting it may be.

Yep - the measure isn't just winning a flag although that of course is the ultimate aim. Building a list/culture/club that can seriously challenge (ie repeat top 4 finishes) for a number of years gives you the best chance to win a flag. I think Roos has helped do that but of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating .

Only the narrow minded would change their views based on the week to week performance of the side. Over the long term the trajectory is pointing up and should continue over the next few years.

Sorry DG, if we have this mentality, we are doomed for failure. The speed of the upward trajectory is all important. And to achieve that, we need to be a destination club for A-Graders, not B, C and D graders like Hibberd, Melksham, Kennedy and Bugg.

It's been a slow burn under Roos, and if we lost key personnel like T. Mac and Hogan in the next 2 years, we are back to where we started when Roos took over.

My thoughts haven't really changed much actually.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
