Listening on the radio it is clear the crowd is overwhelmingly in favour of Freo. And this is our home game.

Grimes disposal poor so far

Surprise , surprise.

Having said that ...... He'll fit right in.

Fantastic first term.  After the slow start we got on top - our disposal has been good, our forward line efficient and our back half has been great as well.

Would love to see us keep it up and build on this lead in the second term.

Mitch White has slotted in seamlessly so far.

What?  What part of that term had us asleep for more than half of it?  Have another glass of red, Jaded.

Site glitched. She made that comment after Freo kicked the first goal.

wanna know why I noticed? Cause the AFL live app isn't bloody working!!

I reckon I saw two turn overs from his three disposals. Just a liability.

Doing well, but still some poor decisions with disposals, especially going forward. Hunt is great but tends to blaze away, Viney and Tyson still make poor decisions, as do Matt Jones, Grimes, Harmes etc.

Stretch stands out like a beacon amongst that lot.

Good quarter.

Apart from Grimes reminding everyone of his true value. There goes a top 5 pick.

As I said in that edit- it took so long for that post to go thru it was no longer relevant.

I tried posting that 25 mins ago!

Outside of the usual contributors, Dean Kent was great that term.  8 touches and 2 goals.  Just goes to show that he is a bit of a barometer for us - when he plays well we generally do as well.

Some really good signs. Just need to keep that intensity for 4 quarters. Need Vince to get back on the field.

Hard to tell from the radio but not a bad quarter it seems.

+66 in disposals, +5 clearances, +9 inside 50s, +12 contested possessions, +7 tackles.

Maybe with those numbers we should be a bit further up but from about 5 minutes into the quarter onwards, felt like we had all of the play.

Apart from the opening 5 minutes where the boys were asleep we absolutely dominated that quarter, while I'll never be unhappy with a 29pt lead at quarter time it really sounded like we butchered a couple of very good chances. Listening on the radio though so can't comment on what's going on from a visual perspective!

Vince is injured with a possible calf.

Mis strapped and kicking the ball to a trainer.

Just got home from an engagement party (made excuses to get home to watch the majority of the game). First thing I see is Grimes kick it to the oppo :(

Sorry Jaded, I didn't see the edit.  I was too quick on it.  My apologies.

Strange injury - strained calf? Appears he's not likely to injure it further.

The most damning statistic underlining Melbourne's recent history in games against Fremantle is the last six scores against them ~

40, 40, 38, 34, 50, 54.

We bolstered the average considerably in our two encounters last year but it still sits at a shade under 43 points a game or a goal less than the Demons' total in the second quarter against Adelaide last week.

It goes without saying that we'll have to be well above average if we're going to win tonight.

No dramas.

Let's hope we all stay awake for the rest of the game, the team and my half drunk self!

Grimes not doing himself any favours

Very sad to hear his contribution that quarter, Grimes's name was usually followed by "not a great kick" or "turns it over". Love the guy and love his passion but this could well be his last game if he doesn't show something.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
