Predicting and epic battle between Viney and Wines in the middle, Gawn will be the reason Viney and the Dees win.

Dees by 9 points

Should be good but I'm going to put it out there and say Viney has overtaken Wines.

Don't like to be negative, but I hope the lacquer on the new painted boots has been tested for slip, or it will be out with the sandpaper at 1/4 time.

Oh i agree, Viney is a better player these days, he's a far better outside player, and probably on par on the inside, but it needs to be remembered that a lot of Viney's improvement comes on the back of Gawns, i think Wines would look amazing roving Gawns tap work as well.

Unless they turn them 180 degrees and run on the tops of their feet, I doubt that should be an issue.

They used a two pack paint so I'm concerned about the boots dexterity and flexibility.

Have we ever won agame at Alice? I can't remember.  Though on paper we have the ammunition to beat them and am reasonably confident, I wonder about the players confidence factor in playing sides that have only tasted victory against us for a long time. THe Dess have surprised me with their ability to kick massive  scores this season but still fall short against  sides that still seem to have no respect for us.

I'm worried about Charlie Dixon today.

We've been monstered by tall forwards often this season and I think he presents as the biggest challenge so far.

Feeling pretty good about this game, although that doesn't mean much.

I think it will end up being a shoot out.  Dixon, Westhoff and Wingard will probably bob up for a few goals, but I still think we are very dangerous going the other way.  If we can stop that run off half back that allows them to get it down to their forwards quickly then I think we win the game.

Dees by 4 goals.

Nobody is interested in your horticultural issues.

Trnegove might not be playing so Dixon might have to play ruck

Melbourne to win the contested ball and the match today, and (hopefully) getting an early 'feel' for what it's like sitting inside the eight .......... a feeling that will become commonplace in the years ahead.

They brought in the rookie, Dougal Howard, to play ruck.

But Dixon will probably have to pinch hit if Trengove doesn't play, so I see your point there.

If we are to look at the game, I would say this is an opportunity for us as I don't like our chances the next week. We will be coming back from stinking hot Alice Springs against the reigning three time premiers. As much as I would like to see us roll those p****s, I'm not sure that we are there yet.
A 7-4 record would be better but if you look at where we are at as a footy team, 6-5 would put us on track for what I would reasonably expect us to achieve as a team this year.

Low 20s and dry.  Far bettWr than freezing wet in Melbourne

23 and sunny today 30% humidity - not bad

More confident against hawthorn next week than Port today.Dunno why. Hopefully we can beat port comfotably but Dixon, Wingard and the hippie moping around their forward line worry me.

I still want wines though.

No late changes for either side.

Updated.

NO LATE CHANGES

FINAL INTERCHANGES
Melbourne: Ben Newton, Alex Neal-Bullen, Josh Wagner, James Harmes
Port Adelaide: Brad Ebert, Karl Amon, Jared Polec, Nathan Krakouer

The Power are carrying some sore players, we must hit them hard.

Well Im going to watch it at my local club and im confident we will win, but you can never be sure. Hopefully Max can get back to his good form and its good to have Jetta back. Hope our midfield just dominates and we get a good win.
