Weid has all the tools to be a top-liner. Just needs to put on some muscle and improve his endurance. His ball handling below his knees is really impressive.

Hulett on the other hand looks like a good park footballer. Put him close to goal in lower leagues, and he has the strength to be a good goalkicker. Doesn't have the agility or skill to play the role of a 3rd or 4th tall in the forward line at AFL level.

Too early to call I think. He should have had 3 before half time when it was coming into the forward line, after half time he had few opportunities. He is very young and raw, but big and strong and looks like he has clean hands, let's see how he goes next year before we start judging.

Hulett has missed a lot of footy before this year and still developing physically.

Think he could make it and surprise a few people, including you.

Both Weideman and Hulett did as required and as expected in 2016. Young key forwards take time ... and we will still only expect 5-6 games for MFC in 2017.

MFC must prepare in case Jesse walks (hoping Hogan stays of course).

I would think the FD are expecting close to a full season from Weideman in 2017 if the Omac experience is anything to go by...

Agility is certainly the concern with Hulett. I'm not concerned by his skills. His kicking is very good and his handballing should improve, Weideman's handballing in tight for a tall is amazing.

For Hulett I think it's a matter of if he isn't agile or quick then he'll have to be really fit. If he's really fit then he can be a lead up player or (as I've said before) trialled at CHB as a physical zone marking defender.

There's talk we drafted him as a defender and if he's playing forward for development and in the hope he makes it as a more valuable forward I'm fine with that. Without Dunn or Garland he could go to CHB at Casey next year.

is it just me that has concerns with Weideman?. I thought both his last two finals games were poor. yes he is slight and will get pushed around, but i haven't seen much to excite me so far. He takes the occasional grab but is there much else to him?  The hawks game was good but his two subsequent games were quite poor. I know its early days, but I think he will need to improve considerably next year to become a key forward. Happy for another year at casey to develop as top teams would, but he doesn't appear to get the ball enough for me. thoughts ?

Its a sign of how far we've come that we are writing off a first year key position type who has held down a spot in a team that made it to the VFL granny!

Developing nicely for mine. Obviously will benefit from more pre seasons to build strength and endurance. Started from a fair way back after injury ended his 2015 season. Seems like a natural forward to me.

You haven't seen enough of him.  Nor have I. 

I like his agility, smarts, and courage in the air.  Don't underestimate the latter.

He has AFL attributes, but not an AFL body.  He needs 8 kilos, which will allow him to impact double the contests he presently does.  It will help his consistency enormously. 

He really is a baby in football terms, but there's a lot to like.
