Can I ask why there isn't the same rumours going around for Patrick Cripps.  From country WA played at East Fremantle, if the Dockers are chasing young WA stars this guy would be very high on their shopping list.  You can build a midfield around this bloke he will be a super star of the game.

Because Cripps is contracted until the end of 2019.

Because it's us, and the media knows that many of our supporters are riddled with MFCSS and still have PTSD from the Scully situation.
That combined with the fact Freo have been crying out for a decent forward, not a midfielder.

The media rates Melbourne's ability to hold onto a player less than it rates Carlton's ability to hold onto a player.

That would take him close to RFA, by that stage the AFL would have canned the compensation picks for Free agents.

Every player can be a free agent of sorts these days. Depends on how much they sook, tug on mummy's apron strings  and dummy spit. It's a character thing.

This is what makes the Cam McCarthy thing so fascinating. Of all the coaches in the league I would have thought the one with the least tolerance for this sort of behaviour is Ross Lyon (remember Col Sylvia?).

I think it goes to show that this no D*#khead policy that gets thrown around is a bit of an external misnomer.

Ross would love to have Jesse. But my god he's going to have to pay and I don't know what he's got except years of draft picks that are a huge risk to give up if you look at the age profile of their list.

We are, for once, in the box seat.

To put a finer point on it: more Carlton supporters in the media than Demon ones.

Because in Feb this year Cripps signed an extension until 2019.  So no headlines there.

About the same time, Jesse announced he was deferring contract talks until the CBA and sees how MFC season pans out.  So he attracts the full force of media interests and all sorts of rumours.

Cripps and Hogan play different roles but are having totally parallel careers.  Cripps saw fit to sign up with a bottom of the ladder side.  Jesse has not, yet...

He can't even carry out the basics, like kicking the ball, seems a few screws loose to me as well, Freos pick 12 or whatever would be a fair deal.

HE did smash his knee into the post and looked like it affected him all day. I would have been in a [censored] off mood as well. Please remember he is only 21-22 and everyone expects him to be the savoir.

Fantastic first half playing lead up CHF role taking 7 marks.

Could barely run let alone leap thereafter.

He looked super sore.

Hogan and Viney both looked incredibly sore for most of the game.

Saw him singing the team song after the win, and looked completely disinterested . Everyone else was head up smiling at each other  and Hogan was just barely mouthing the words and staring at the floor.

You're not wrong there, i dont bother with the superfooty aka carlton, richmond, geelong podcast anymore.

The first half of the year was entirely collingwood and richmond content all over the media. [censored] em. Blackout.

Call me crazy, but he seems like a player that gets depressed about not kicking 5 goals rather than disinterested in his club

Proud forwards may not feel happy when they fail to impact on the scoreboard for the second week running, and have a bruised knee...

efa

He gets super frustrated and his first reaction to not winning the ball in a one-on-one is look back up the field to his teammate and sat "wtf was that" with his body language. Did that 3 or 4 times today.

He and Garlett have been very lazy lately.

I expect him " to know " in the French sense but not to deliver us single handedly.

In fairness, he did just have to watch that game.

Confirmed: Hogan has informed our club he intends to re-sign. Contract negotiations have begun and will probably be completed this year but could take up to 6 months.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
