Brad Hill is not anywhere near being in Hawthorns top 15 players. He does the occasional useful thing but he's a passenger on the Hawthorn bus. His team mates carry him for the most part. No loss to the hawks if he goes. Clanger numbers go down with him out of their side.

Brad Hill - 75 games, 3 flags.  There's no justice is football.

31 possessions and 5 tackles against the Tigers for Hill and 25/3 the previous week. He gives them a lot of outside run and applies pressure.

The much maligned Matt Jones had 30 & 4 against Freo.  Hill is an ordinary player in the right place with the right attributes at the right time.  Really I can't think of a bigger passenger on the greatness bus.

Mark Blake from Geelong. The luckiest hack to ever get a premiership medal.

Bill James from the Tiges has to take that cake. Played 1 VFL game and it was a winning Grand Final back in the 20's.

It's easy to be an outside player in a great team. Outsider players tend to struggle in poor sides because they don't get the ball enough. Watts being a good example. No surprise that his form has improved as the team's has.

By definition, outside runners are downhill skiers. Every good team needs them, and every good team has them.

Also Cam Mooney and his premiership for North - 1 possession and on the bench for 90% of the time

Listening to SEN now, not particularly encouraging news re Jesse from Brian Waldron.

He does Perth radio on Tuesday nights, says everyone is 100% certain Jesse's going home. Freo does not need to get him this year, and trade with Melbourne, they plan on getting him next year for nothing. This year they will get McCarthy and are going to target Lobb. How many tall forwards do they need???

I know it's not telling us anything that hasn't been said before, but still...

And how do they plan on getting Hogan for nothing? The whole 'we'll snare him in the pre-season draft' scenario never really happens, and if he were to actually leave, Jesse isn't the kind of player that would pull a move like that and shaft the MFC.

I'm more confident that he is staying in Melbourne with every week that passes.

With Hardie and Langdon.

mmmmm....not the best source in WA.

Waldron's info was a little unreliable, at first he was talking about Hogan going as a RFA until KB put him straight.

I don't know what Jessie is planning to do, maybe even he doesn't yet.

What I do know is that Waldron is trying to carve out a media career and as we all know fear & controversy sells.

So 100% of Hardie & Langdon think he's going home but another 100% of Jakovic and Gossige believe he's not....so on my extensive poll of 4 WA broadcasters if my sums are correct he's 50% certain.

That doesn't make a good headline, 100% certain.

dd, did you get the feeling Waldron was just trying to be provocative?

He thought Hogan was a free agent next year and Freo could get him for nothing.

Not sure what bs they feed him on Perth radio but it seems a bit short of facts.

That SEN segment was a joke. They were saying hogan was restricted free agent next year among a few other questionable points. If the other posters above didn't already discredit it enough, be very mindful how uneducated some of these reporters are

Every player can be a free agent of sorts these days. Depends on how much they sook, tug on mummy's apron strings  and dummy spit. It's a character thing.

They can be a free agent of sorts, but that doesn't mean the opposite of the trade doesn't have to give anything up.

He is the cornerstone of our future success. Who is Freo's? Neale or Fyfe? Neither is a key forward who are rare as hens teeth so you could argue a straight swap for either is still unders for Jesse (though I personally think Fyfe will come back from his leg still a gun).

One of those two as a bare minimum as far as I'm concerned.

Having said that, I still think we will sign Jesse for 4 years and he will depart thereafter.

Interestingly re Watts a lot of his best work this season has been inside. He's really stepped up in this area which is allowing him to influence results when game is locked in an arm wrestle.

Can I ask why there isn't the same rumours going around for Patrick Cripps.  From country WA played at East Fremantle, if the Dockers are chasing young WA stars this guy would be very high on their shopping list.  You can build a midfield around this bloke he will be a super star of the game.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
