Hello Curry!  Where have you been hiding?

Hi mate. I got banned for no reason. Also, I was disgusted with the footy club after round 2.... and round 6 :D

Things are looking better though.. 68 points per week better than 2013, to be precise

Sunday will be a pearler

You still backing Garlo? I can't believe he got back in TBH

Bit stiff.  Feels like you've been gone a while though, must have been a large ban.

Agree that we are looking better, but we still need that consistency.  Sunday will most certainly be a pearler.

And I'll still back Garlo, although what could I say after he had been dropped?  Thought he did okay on the weekend outside of his diabolical hand pass.  Will be probably our best match up for Stringer on the weekend, so fingers crossed he plays well.

Some thought 'Two Metre Peter' would do that last week.

Have some faith my friend.

Peter Wright did pretty well considering the lack of inside 50's Gold Coast had (and that when they did go inside 50, they were mostly targetting Lynch). Also, you can't compare Wright to Stringer. Personally, i hope we put Mcdonald on Stringer...not Garland.

I wasn't.  I was merely making the point that some thought he would kick a bag, win the rising star etc.  He kicked a couple and did little else.  Now we worry about Stringer... and so on...

McDonald may well get Stringer, but Garland is capable as well.  He has the pace and the ability one on one to go with him.  As I said earlier, my fingers are crossed that he can do the job I think he is capable of doing.

Hogan, Petracca, Oliver all better 'packages' than Stringer

We are now in the position to play our best 22 and I believe Salem is best 22 and his form this year has not been spectacular but solid - when we get an injuries someone like Michie and Stretch whose form has been good in the VFL comes in  - but unless their form in the seniors absolutely demands they don't get dropped, they get dropped.

Teams like Hawthorn  - in 2014 Hartung was in and out - played great VFL footy but was not best 22 so when all players were available  - he went back to the VFL even with "handy" performances in the seniors.

Last year his form dictated that he be in the best 22.

Duryea had the same trajectory.

Michie, Stretch and ANB will continue to be stiff until their form in the seniors is so good that they can't be dropped. Neither Stretch nor Michie were that good that they can't be dropped next week. I suspect that Stretch may get another game next week as we need his outside run against the doggies but not 100% sure.

I actually think we will ultimately play Salem in the mid field. His early games where he made such an impression were there, and he especially impressed around goal where he won more than one game off his own foot. He recently scored a very impressive goal feeding of Maxy I think against Collingwood. He has sublime skills which are I think not used to their full advantage in the backline. For me I would prefer someone like a Grimes (with improved kicking) to play his role and use him on perhaps the wing,

Michie for Salem maybe

Bring our A-game and we're in with a chance. Anything less, no matter how much planning there is, and we'll be in trouble.

I'd bring H and Salem back in. H was good in our couple of wins, and the accuracy of Salem's kicking is still something we need, as the first quarter last weekend showed.

Not sure who out ... Michie, Stretch? Both would be a bit unlucky, but it's the way it is these days.

Personally given Garland's total  brain fade at the start, I would like him to match up on some Sandringham player next week. Can't trust him any more

H was terrible against the Saints and there was apparently, a reason, according to Roos he was suffering the effects of concussion from the week before.  If he is ok now he may get a gig, but in all probability he will play for Casey.

Salem was pretty poor against the Saints, but he was concussed during the game, is he ok now?

Given the fact they played H too early perhaps they will give Salem a rest this week.

No change for mine and we will win.

Bit of an over reaction i think. Played ok after that.

Whether you liked Garland's game or not ( that first quarter handpass ewww) - what I did like is he obviously been told by the coaching panel  that he needs to do more offensively and you can see him trying to do exactly that.

Nut , are you like me, and would really like Col Garland to get angry?

Not his style and at this point you'd say it never will be.

He does give the appearance of playing a bit of a mentoring role for Petracca though, which I've found interesting. Evidence being the images of his arm around Trac at training after he was told he wouldn't be debuting, Col being the first one Trac celebrated with in the circle after the match etc. His leadership style may just be less obvious than others.

No changes. Best win we've had in about a decade.

Have to reward every single player in last week's team.

And it's a well balanced team too. Lumumba coming in would be the only potential change.

Love Salem, but I reckon a game in the VFL might be what he needs.

ANB, Dunn and Matt Jones must be cutting themselves.

I don't really understand why everyone always says this stuff.. just because we had a good win doesn't mean our current 22 is the exact perfect configuration of a team from now on. Garland did nothing, if Lumumba had been in we may have won by 100. If ANB had been in instead of Michie maybe 110-120. I'm just chucking examples out of course but it makes no sense to me logically that you are for some reason forbidden to change a winning side. Reward form and pick the best 22, who cares if we won last week.

Boy I am glad I don't work for you.  But I agree nothing should be set in concrete. Different team this week may need different players.

why? it is every bit as 'mean' to leave a deserving player languishing at Casey, while others maintain their spot after doing nothing, just because the team won last week - it makes no sense

also the 'competition for spots' mantra is null and void if you get gifted a game because the team is going well, isn't it? We can't have players tinking they are safe regardless, they need to perform to retain their spot unless they are Gawn or Hogan or somebody else irreplaceable.

He is right. If there is a player who is in our best 22 and they are fit they should play.

I want to win every game. You play your best 22 to maximise the chance of winning.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
