Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jack Viney's square off on Rance

Recommended Posts

I also found it somewhat strange that Greg Baum questioned the decision to let Viney off (the MRP ruling that it was an open hand to the chest) on the basis that in his view the head is sacrosanct and that "Viney's lunge landed much nearer to Rance's jaw than his chest".

So on this view, I suppose Greg Baum would also believe that a goal should be awarded if the ball hits the inside of the goal post because the ball landed closer to the goals than the points.

A great tribute to player relationship and leadership by Viney. Watts has been seen as somewhat timid in the past - and I understand why ,after the weak, collie wobbles,( collingwood players )attached him first game....pity Viney wasn't around then.

This attitude by Viney and others show a total new spirit in player welfare this year - Go Dee's.

Looked like it got him in the neck or throat to me.  Post game photo evidence shows no signs of bruising, scratches grazes, etc to Rance. Nor was he showing signs of trauma distress like grogginess and disorientation, only understandable fear.  MRP got this one right.

Mick has definitely lost the plot. What a stupid, ridiculous thing to say.

If Jack had been upright and hit the turf hard he may have been in the same boat as that poor young boy Patrick Cronin who was buried yesterday after a king hit to the back of the head by some thug just over a week ago.

Mick's comments are insensitive and shows how out of touch he is with modern society.

Check yourself in to aged care Mick or keep your trap shut.

it is pretty simple.

Rance should get credit for not being a serial offender - and he got that - 3 weeks down to 2 weeks. If you are a cleanskin you can get a reduction for a guilty plea. If you have a bad track record you can't get a reduction - To me that is the one good thing about the system. ( probably the only good thing)

Rance was a pi$#sswe&$k coward.

Im not quite as hard as you.

Rance's act was a cowards act that is out of character for him. He had a brainsnap that we haven't seen before and would suspect we won't see again. He got a well deserved whack and we move on.

It's a small thing but wanted to comment anyway - Have watched this btw 50 - 100 times (the whole replay 3) as I'm in tragic mode at the moment, and what I found interesting between this and the Viney tackle on the 'don't argue' (which I have watched 100+ times), is how well Viney moves his legs and feet to enable him to exert force. I honestly think his brilliant footwork is how he gets to exert all that strength and wins against bigger/taller (maybe stronger opponents). The speed with which he moves his legs under him for balance just makes him unstoppable. My theory is that this superior sense of balance, will mean that his disposal (kicking) will improve further (substantially). I think he'd make a ripper boxer as well.

Wow Mick's mind is definitely starting to fail him now. What a stupid thing to say. I don't care if you're a soup kitchen volunteering, kitten saving, stand up guy; if you elbow someone in the back of the head on a footy field while he is lying on the ground defenceless then you deserve weeks.

The MRP made the right call on this, stuff like this has no place in the game. And if Mick thinks Rance should've got a free pass for his cheap shot then maybe Mick doesn't have a place either.

Agreed but if you hadn't noticed, Mick actually doesn't have place anymore  - except a little spot on the radio where he has to be contrary and controversial to be even slightly relevant

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
