Clearly, we have no true CHF who can take a screamer and kick a goal. Pederson not up to it, Dawes? well will he come back after numerous Calf troubles? Frost aint it either!

I think even at this stage lets roll the dice and Blood Weideman for 6 games or so and see what he's got tro offer! He can take a grab, can kick accurately and loves a physical contest.

Looking at some of the GWS beanpole forwards is it that much of a risk to play him next week? Same can be said for Petracca! Honeymoon period over lets see what youv'e got son!?

Whilst on it it appears that Trengove is way ahead of schedule and although I doubted his ability to get back, I'm happy to admit an error and play him on the basis that he is a far better player than Bugg, Harmes and Matt Jones.

I think Weideman will crack it for 5-7 games this year but wouldn't put him in yet. Trengove and Petracca are at least 3 games away. Roos won't be putting underdone players in anytime soon after Brayshaw's game yesterday.

Amazing that other teams can bring in their first year draft players and play them from the start, but demons have to run them through the VFL for months? why, if a player is playing reasonable football why not give him a chance to step up.

And for all those who blame watts stunted development on going to early, I doubt it, its a game where players have to step up sooner or later, giving him another 3 or 4 games in the VFL would not have changed that outcome. Some players take-up the challenge and rise to it, others will fail no matter how long you play them in the VFL. We need our young players to get 40-50 games under their belts that cannot before they really start to contribute, they cannot do that quickly if they spend half their year or more in the VFL, when they could be getting senior experience.  Yes we will loose some games, but they will all get better for the run, so will help us climb the ladder next year and the year after instead of 3-4 years time.

Well yes, if they're not ready. On what basis is Weidemann playing reasonable football demanding the right to be 'given a chance to step up'.

Strong/improving clubs run them through their own VFL clubs and drill them to learn "the way" the coach wants/expects them to play including skills/patterns, how to defend etc.

Part of the MFC's problem is that we don't truly have control over how we blood the young rookies and what's expected of them before they enter the fire of AFL.

Part of our resurrection has to be the consideration of a dedicated VFL team. Casey is ok but not the answer to developing and blooding players that will take us to the next level. No offence to anyone at Casey who i'm sure are doing a great job and are a very good club in their own right. It is no coincidence that the Doggies are on the rise after relaunching the Foostcray Bulldogs during the 2014 season at VFL level (not saying this is the entire reason but part of a number of changes that is seeing them push their performance to higher levels of late).

Weideman has shown he can mark and kick straight, the challenge for Melbourne is to deliver the ball to him so he can mark it. Playing him off a half forward flank wide of Hogan and Watts would give him a chance, he would be hard pressed to do less than kent did on Saturday.

Ive been saying for years that we should give Casey The Khyber!

For years vested self interest has given way to the correct development of our players.

The sooner we get wise to fielding a stand alone Melbourne Resies team playing in the VFL the happier I'll be!

Remembering the "Fev" situation of a few years ago, vested self interest was at play then resulting in some players not afforded development opportunities they desrved!

I really don't give a stuff about Casey and if we are the only reason they stay afloat, stiff cheddar!

I think they used to be known as Springale in the VFA!

The Watts debut has made us gun shy. Supporters are reluctant to throw players in the deep end because of this. I'd argue that the club made a rod for its back by almost showcasing its messiah. There would be nowhere near the same level of scrutiny for a Weideman or a Petracca. And if they don't perform from game one, so what? We are not going to win the Premiership or play finals so let's get them in to gain the experience.

If he keeps performing, he'll get a gig. I don't think Roos is in the business of holding back players who consistently perform. We have some really promising players in the VFL, and that is a silver lining - to an otherwise bad weekend.

Frost or Hogan must the CHF and FF position.WEidmann could play a Forward pocket positionand when available Petracca could also take up another forward spot. Dunn would have to be placed back in defence. O'Mac should take up a back pocket position.The days may be over for Watts ,Dawes and Grimes. WE must put trust in up and coming stars.

How about we drop Garland and play Frost/Dunn/Tmac as the key back. They are no to be switched fwd unless injury occurs. The three talls of Hogan/Watts/Pedo stays. I'd like to see that for a few weeks.
