Im not sure this is such a good thing. In a way it makes it harder for Hurley to walk . It mean his old club, which he is bound to feel some allegience to, will get nada if he goes. A fcat, that should he go, would be bound to cost him friendships. If he's angry enough and wants to go then great but if he's waivering then this set up would probably lean him into staying.

He'd be leaving because he's [censored] off at the club, so that should cancel any allegiance to them out.

I can't understand why a serious AFL footballer would re-sign with a club that wronged them so badly. i know some have been offered insane dollars but outside that there is no carrot, they're going to have to totally re-build

Yeah, not unless they understood and were fully complicit to the program and substances they were injecting.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole dragging it out with the remaining players is just another part of the charade.

I think sometimes we overestimate a player's loyalty to a club. Players are loyal to their mates. If Hurley stays at Essendon it will be to play with his mates, some of whom went through the same horrid [censored] as him.

Hint: it has a lot to do with "compensation payments" via lawsuit from the club directly to players that, conveniently enough, don't go under the salary cap. Said compo payments would be substantially higher for players that agree to stay with the club, as an incentive. Let's not forget Essendon are rolling in money with benefactors with fat bank accounts. Money buys anything in this day and age, even loyalty.

Of course, the AFL are turning a blind eye to such shenanigans. Won't even step in to prevent pick 1 going to them, despite the circumstances. Poor old "Everything By Committee" Gillon, starting to remind me of another Gil:

If we can get him for just money then get it done dees, we play finals if he was in our side now

That, as ludicrious as it reads, is a very simple but accurate assessment. Certainly for the back half of the year anyway. Our defense needs shoring up and may have helped us in certain games this year.

Anyone hear David King rabbit on about about how Essendon could in the window for the next 3 years? Wtf. He said they should trade pick one and trade for  a star and they would push for top 4

what is he smoking??

next year at best they will be in the group outside the eight on 8-10 wins

King is constantly making bold (stupid) predictions in an attempt to make an 'I told you so' name for himself.

I reckon he will change it to David Nostradamus .

Just to show off.

The same guy who had Saints not winning a game last year and Richmond top 4 this year, Freo premiers, Adelaide and Dogs to slide.

He will get something right form time to time but his team predictions have been poor...

I'm sure training as a group would be beneficial for him. I'm sure his angst wouldn't have been with the players.

Until he signs something IMO there is no significant development.

Except he's contracted at EFC next year, which means he simply has to turn up, train and then play next year.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
