Look forward to how we play with Goodwin in the chair and how he responds with tactics during the game.

He will be on show just as much as the players and am expecting a good performance from all.

Unless the result gets way out of hand I wouldn't be expecting any tactical changes. The rotations should be largely mapped up based on how much they want to spread the game time between 26 players. I wouldn't worry about match ups unless players are playing super poorly or super well. I'd be hoping game sense scenarios are built in to the game plan (ie. when to retain possession, when to go more defensive) but otherwise I'd be happy with 4 quarters of practising plan A.

Not sure that proves much we have been losing to everyone everywhere for a decade

Yep, if we really are a team of competitors, we should be aiming to win all the nab challenge games as well as the home and away games (imo). Losing (no matter how competitive it may be) should never be an option.

The quality of the opposition and timing of this match are a 'perfect fit' for our team at this point. It's now time to test the pre-season 'form' against real opposition, and to ensure that the early 'hype' is delivered on the field in spades.  Please don't disappoint us boys!!

What next wise words from Confucius?

I am here teaching Chinese students the finer points of VCE English. If there is one thing I have learned since arriving three weeks ago, it's to have patience. Everything happens in its own time here apparently. Some thoughts for some our fellow Demonlanders:

A man's conversation is the mirror of his thoughts.

The fire you kindle for your enemy often burns yourself more than him.

To get through the hardest journey we need only take one step at a time, but we
must keep on stepping.

And my personal favourite: Do not use a hatchet to remove a fly from your friend's forehead.

And as Confucius says: It doesn't matter who's on the bench, as long as Watts is marking the ball on the wing and delivering it to Hogan inside 50.

And; the longest goal starts with a single clearance from half-back.

Go Dees.

If the Dees don't get over the line there is only one thing to blame.....

The stench of Adelaide's Northern suburbs!

Also, be prepared for a crowd of unruly rednecks after the announcement today that Holden are cutting 400 jobs from their Lizbef factory!

I can't wait.... Polishing the ugg boots as I type

They have nearly a full strength side including a very strong midfield. We have 2 key mids out.

They have also played a full game and its their own dung heap.

If we win it will be a tremendous victory. If we don't it will be all about how we play and whether we play for 4 quarters.

Personally I'd like to see an obvious game plan and for us to stick to that throughout the game. A strong attack on the player and the footy. And good two way running.

Finally, no injuries.

This multiplied by 100. Particularly the last 3 lines

A very wise man I am told. I believe his last words were, "I hope I see a Dees premiership before I depart this life."

He also might have said, "In time all things come to pass. There is a time to be a hawk and a time to be cat, but a Dees supporter always has time to go to the snow - and that's not something to sneeze at."

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
