The Magistrate should have applied the max IMHO. Was not an isolated occurrence but an orchestrated program over a protracted time frame affecting a considerable number. Not to mention lengths taken to obsfuscate and cover up.

While that is quite possible, surely injecting unknown substances is extremely serious and not much below killing someone.  I can imagine cases where someone is killed being less serious in terms of the degree of negligence by the company (with a more unfortunate result).  A great chance for the magistrate to go for the maximum and call for the maximum to be raised.

That was the maximum per offence, from memory there were two offences so the max was just over 600k. I agree with your logic but if the max is 600 then they got 30% of that, not really much more than a slap.

How the hell did the EFC get that down to TWO offences? that bit really is a complete joke, I wonder if Hal Hunter was one of them? ..obviously the govt has stepped in somewhere to minimise all of it while keeping the "look" of doing something about it.

The players chose to go in as a group throughout the whole ASADA/WADA/CAS process. If one player felt he was in a different category then he had the option to plough his own road. It is too late for that player to rethink his options. He can't eat his cake and expect to still have it.

If the claim is true, it is not the process that has failed. It is the legal representation of the player.

If it was so clear that player X was not injected withTB-4, then his lawyer has done a lousy job of presenting the case.

If said player is suggesting he withdrew prior to TB4 injections, he obviously knows when they occurred. Which leads to the only conclusion - that TB4 injections happened. Guilty, bang, see ya later. If he had this evidence he should have produced it when requested - which would have closed the case 12 months ago. Now, at best, he's an accomplice. Just as guilty.

Then ASADA will fine the club, take away any accreditation for the trainer and seek additional penalty for the player.

correct. there are always grey areas.

melksham is also allowed to mix socially with other players including team mates......but technically they can't assist him in a sporting sense

If trainer has any accreditation with any sport or such that is signatory to the WADA code and aids  a banned player they will be smacked big time.  People talk of gray areas but I'd be treading very carefully. Asada/wada will be watching like a hawk. 

Personally I hope Efc cross the line again.

The various sports and codes have their accreditation protocols.  A no name personal trainer may have none..  If he aids a banned player..he'll never get any !!

ASADA does not have the resources and probably has better things to do than follow the detailed behaviour of all the banned players.  I'd be very surprised if they could nail anyone with half a brain.  What are they going to do - see a player running laps, corner him and ask him how he knows he should be running at just at that speed?  And if he meets his trainer at a random oval or gym somewhere, does ASADA have the resources to spot that?  Even if there is a risk of being caught, being idle for a year and then hoping to play AFL again is probably a bigger risk.

I haven't followed the details, but the NRL seems a bit tougher than the Australian Football Loophole (AFL) - almost 3 years for attempting to use....

I dare say Sue the NRL understand things somewhat clearer than the Loopholers. They know  ( at least at the top ) that there is not only a problem  but that the public know theres a problem and want it seen to.

Contrast this to the Australian Football Laughingstock. Gill and his Dills don't concede much of any problem. What little there is  ( npi ) has been dealt with , indeed they , if you ask them ( the AFL ) help and co-operated with the relevant authority   In teh manner of the Emperor and his new clothes all is right with footy
