This is it though.

If Jack Viney was interviewed and made the same comments we'd all be banging on about how awesome it was.

No we wouldn't. I wouldn't. And I'd marry JV if Mrs P would let me.

They are just fluffy words. Whose saying them is irrelevant. Clearly a lot the fans are done with fluffy words.

By all means talk about the fantastic change of culture and mindset. But don't expect everyone to actually give a damn. Not until we are buying tickets to the football in September. Seeing is believing.

So let's just have zero media coverage and interviews with players until we play finals?

Should we just take Roosy and Goodies word at face value?

I know, let's beg Saty back to the forum so we can get all the juicy goss. ;)

same stuff said, just said differently every year for 8 years now. big, MEH, from me.

You actually think things are same now under the new regime as they have been previously?

Certainly looks and feels very different to me. Very different.

i didn't say that. I said same stuff "SAID". Behind the scenes it's different, as we know. But the players need to now be a result of that action through winning performances, for it not to be the same jargon said by the players to the media every pre-season.

Player interviews and media coverage are important. It's just difficult not to zone out when they start talking about how much better/more professional things are than they once were. It's a tune sung every single year.

The boy keeps crying wolf and maybe it really is a wolf this time. But I wanna see it for myself

One thread gets locked, another opened. Admittedly this is based on an article, but the hilarity of people suggesting that people no longer care about the fella.

I like the statements about culture but it's all stuff that every football club says and is almost certainly dictated to him via media management.

I wonder if the club used jacky for this reason though. He'll either be a hero or a scapegoat as a result. Maybe it's puts some more pressure on him to perform.

If there's an interview with a player, they're criticised because it's "only words" and meaningless. If there's no interview with players, the club is criticised because of a lack of communication.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

(Not sure what exactly people expect them to say ...)

Really? I couldn't give a crap about this sort of media release. Much prefer reading Roosy's brief pre season updates. I think most on here feel words like this are very cheap without actions to match and the irony of who made this release is not lost on anyone here.

In 2014 I think I saw about 1 or 2 shepherds from a Melbourne player.

In 2015 I think I saw about 6 or 7 shepherds from a Melbourne player.

There has been improvement but hopefully we can start shepherding and protecting team mates regularly in every match instead of playing Hot Potato with the football whilst we handball to players backs or stationary targets.

Shepherding is a fast disappearing play in football.

The choice has become shepherd and hope that it is successful to allow your teammate free passage as opposed to not shepherding but create your own space to take the ball as your teammate takes the tackle.

Where we have been poor is we haven't shepherded or made space to take the receive. You have got to do one or the other.

I see Hodge shepard a lot & quite often use it as a weapon to hurt opponents. There's a reason why Hawks are so good & part of it is team's like us play scared against them. Thankfully we have blokes like Viney & Hogan coming through.....

It is Jan the 5th ..... very hard to put words into actions when we are 2 months from playing a game in anger.   All clubs, at this time of the year have puff pieces to keep their club members in touch and there will be many more before the games start.   Get used to it

Who said I wasn't used to it? My club put it out there & I can comment on it all I like.

Yes your right SWYL........But until we start to play games, nothing can be done about it.     I like seeing articles about our club rather than not.   I know it all means jack but it's better than nothing.

I know what you mean Boss but i am just so over positive interviews  that are then followed up with Game Day results that just do not back it up.

That said i do have a good feeling about 2016. I believe Roosy will want to back away from the senior job as a winner.

For me that is a September appearance.

The players should be wanting that as well

Spot on.

Theyre called 1%'s for a reason and can be real team-lifter when applied timely and with intent to hurt an opponent.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
