I'm still in Papua and will change my flight on Saturday from Denpasar to Melbourne instead of heading back to Perf if Trenners is named.

I'm sure the missus will get over it eventually.

Yeah mate. Probably saved myself a grand or so as well..

Still, the committment to travel anywhere in the country to watch his return to senior footy remains.

I think you are safe.

Unless we get done on Sunday I don't see him coming in before the half way point of the season.

Im thinking the week after Port....the Hawthorn game

This hasn't happened to me in years, I'm seriously looking forward to the game v Hawks, and playing JT would add a layer to that.

It wasn't "mail" it was a guess. If you read the posts you will see he eventually admitted that.

Imagine how much (more) rubbish there'd be here if we all posted our guesses as rumours or facts.

At least that kind of "rubbish" is interesting

How many do you think we would get to the Queen's Birthday game if he was to return then? 66,000 last year, 68,000 the year before. We're obviously going a lot better, so I would be hoping with Trengove's return we could get 75,000+.

I find is amusing bb that early in 2016 you ( and others ) said it would be June and were treated with a little less than enthusiasm.

And here we are looking at June.

Trenner's not going to play for the seniors next week as he's got no game this week to impress.

Not quite sure  what youre saying .

Trenners has ALREADY impressed. He just wont be selected this week..  I always thought he might be a chance to come in and replace some tired legs ( whatever ) after the NT game, which is Hawthorn

I still think he 'might'

Crowd should be bigger this year regardless because we are relevant again and the Pies are now starting to build and I imagine by the Queen's B'day game we'll be in pretty similar spots on the ladder. Could be on the same no. of wins in fact.

But yeh, if Trenners came back for that game, I'd like to say it'd give our team/supporters a boost.

I don't think it's that cut and dried.

If they're happy with his previous form, fitness and next week's training I don't think he necessarily needs another game at Casey to be selected.  A week off might do him good.

From a selfish point of view I'm so happy he isn't playing this week. It means no matter what I'll be there to see his first game back!

Cannot wait to cheer Trenners on. It's been a long time coming!

You don't know much about footy if you think the matchup will be the same. Collingwood are a completely different side than 1 mth ago. We would've got beaten by 15 other sides last weekend

I know that just because we were less than impressive in a 10 goal win and the Pies were impressive against the Cats that it means absolutely nothing when the two teams play each other a fortnight later. To say the Pies will smash us is a silly comment.

just as our rd 4 matchup that you offered up also means absolutely nothing. you just proved the folly of your comment.

I don't know what your wet blanket posts have to do with JT's progress.

That said, it doesn't take a genius to note that Collingwood have improved. But to totally disregard the result of merely 5 weeks ago when we beat them with the bulk of the team being the same is ridiculous. Sure, they just beat Geelong. Richmond also beat Sydney. Upsets happen. You're making the Pies sound like world beaters based on a two week turnaround in form.

Collingwood may well start as favourites but predicting a smashing says a lot about your mindset.

So tell me what has changed from round 4 to now to indicate that the Pies will smash us. You've even gone as far as saying that they will smash us instead of that they might smash us. Please elaborate.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
