WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER

Looks very much like a half-smile too.

Is that Hopper behind him? Wow...

And Oliver looks like a seasoned veteran.

I'm just about to vomit after reading some of these comments. Parish can clearly play, and the only thing I'm concerned about is whether Oliver and Weideman make it as AFL footballers.

Glad we got an Oliver ..eventually

Looks the goods. Give him the time to get up to speed

This comment makes me vomit.

Lol Parish looks like a small child

You get the sense that Oliver was passed on for a gig with Vic Country and Bendigo Pioneers because he was carrying weight earlier in his junior years, but he is looking sharp now. In no way were those rejections a reflection on his talent.

Not sure this has been mentioned:

"Interestingly, [Murray Bushrangers Coach Darren] Ogier will follow Oliver to the Demons after winning a development role." from the HUN

Sheez. We didn't draft the kid so it's okay to hang crap on him, is it?

I feel sorry for any kid that ends up at the dung heap.

Yes, but he's gone to Essendon, so he should be twice the size by season's start.

I like that he clearly looks like a talented player, but he had almost no fitness base and looks to be carrying a bit of weight still. He should improve significantly, I would think, given AFL preseasons to trim down and get his running capacity up. But his stoppage work and ability to create space and time for himself seem to be excellent.

The highlights look great, but they always do, however I think need to be looking for snippets of him doing things that are a bit special, which I think it does.

Got a gig at Casey.

Spot on. That's the point I was making about DD's comments as well. Let's just concern ourselves with who we draft before sticking the boots into other draftees.

Glad to have another tough red head to cheer. I need a Peter Walsh type in my life.

Welcome Clay and good luck!

All these kids look 12 to me.

Also now I'm going to spend the next 6 months trying to learn how to spell Sam's surname correctly #draftstruggles #firstworldfootyproblems

Jeez he really does exude class. He's not quick...and he looks really awkward bouncing the ball, but beautiful evasive side step, vision, hunger at the contest and disposal. ( as least on the highlights) Mitchell isnt quick either is but that capacity to twist in both directions sets him apart. I think he's going to be great for us....and expect him playing early in the year also. As happy ton as I was last year.

Look at the hunger on him

What do we always talk about wanting to have in our side? Blokes who have a crack, win the footy, run both ways and give their all for the footy club.

Oliver will bring all of those things in spades.

Hopefully the similarities begin and end with the hair colour.

This was I think a snide reference to Jordie McK - the dedication, work ethic, ability to get every ounce from himself, and courage would also be well worthwhile transferring to any player.

Agree 100%. Macka mightn't have the the best skill in the league (who could possibly argue), but the guy gives it everything he has. If only some of our more talented players gave the same effort...................
