Trade Radio Discussion

Good they got that deal out of the way in the first couple of hours, more will flow...

Geelong recruiting team are building a big hole of no youth to try maintain their ladder position. Repercussions is going to be gold

Get real. They've got a stack of promising young players to compliment elite players in Dangerfield and Selwood. They've done it brilliantly. They've brought in Dangerfield, S.Selwood, Henderson and Z.Smith and given up picks in a year that has a shallow draft.

The Danger deal was a good trade to open the week. Seemed to be the elephant in the room over the last couple of weeks.

But he's still a chance to come to Melb right????

So he is saying we don't want to trade any players is that right??Or we cant trade players for the right or any deal. What about Dawes or Spencer?Did he mention them??

Yeah, He's going on trade radio to tell the other 17 clubs exactly what we are doing.

Makes it slightly awkward when we don't trade a player and we have shopped them all over town but I'm sure the players dont read the press and will give their all next year......

crows should've, and probably did, demand first two first rounders for 2015 and 2016 and a player.

dangerfield is probably a top 10 player in the competition and all cats have given up are speculative draft picks.

bargain.

Rumours that Goddard wants out on SEN and Tigers interested in Grimes. Id take Ben Lennon thanks

Definitely a bargain, but would have been a far greater bargain had they got him for free. In the end, I think it is a mature trade, made on the first day of trade period, so hats off to both Geelong and Adelaide.

I take it that's Goddard from Essendon? During his segment on AFL 360 each week he can't talk highly enough of the club and how much he loves being there..

Nice that he likes it. Fair enough to want out of the saints at the time but the club he has gone to has provided loads of pain for him and no flag. The bummer fans are certainly 100 % behind him so thats a comfort for Brendan.

Restricted Free Agency just worked quite well in the eyes of the Player Assoc.

The club has no chance to keep the player that wants to go but at least they get more value than if Danger was unrestricted.

I would tweak the FA rules but this one went well for the competition.

I've been saying since FA was bought in that the receiving club should have to give up something. This is what happened with Geelong and Danger.

Excellent result.

But he's still a chance to come to Melb right????

Absolutely, we have players and picks to offer.

Would make sense by the Tigers to unite the Grimes brothers.

So they can complete the set of modest players?

Anyway, both Grimeses live in Melbourne. They probably unite every weekend at their parents house for a Sunday roast.

But they are not allowed to discuss game plans and they come to Mums' in different colored T-Shirts.

The rumours of Goddard im aware of have nothing to do with Brendan.

Just heard that Danger has told Geelong that he wants a trade to Hawthorn.

Hugh? Make a play. Kid will be a very good player.

Funny that the complicated Dangerfield deal got done first, before some relatively straightforward ones.

Brendan

As much as I'd like Swan Josh Kennedy leading our midfield - how about re-uniting our own skipper's brother; Zak at Sydney. He played in the finals, add some in and under.

Not a terrible call although we could have drafted him.

Signed off, you mean. I think this deal was done way back ...

just on trade radio Dodoro confirming that Melksham to melbourne for our 2nd round pick

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
