Just off topic from the club, but:

What do you guys make of Carlton's deal to send Menzel back to SA for a second round pick and Kerridge, a bloke who played 1 senior game for the Crows in 2015?

I know they are probably sending that pick to GWS for 4 average footballers, but it seems like they are giving up on a bloke who I thought showed a bit of potential and x-factor, something their list seriously lacks.

Big mistake from my perspective. I really rate Menzel from what I've seen of him and would never contemplate trading him in exchange for a fringe player and a 2nd round pick in a draft weak in depth.

Still no mention of Bugg?

I thought he was a lock for us?

Mahoney said that Bugg will become a Dee. It just might not happen until tomorrow or until after the Carlton/GWS trade.

They are putting a lot of eggs in the GWS basket if u ask me. Also I wouldn't get rid of Menzel. The way they are going they will have no one to kick goals.

Happy days.

Seriously, that's just plain dumb. 2016 is supposedly a much stronger draft, we are currently 15th or 16th in premiership betting, and we're prepared to risk giving up a top four pick. Is Parish really that good?

Potentially, IN picks 3, 10 and 43 in a weak draft; OUT pick 4 in a strong draft, 6 and 29 in a weak draft. How is that possibly a win for us?

We simply back ourselves in to improve and at least get close to playing finals next year. Then it's a win.

Plus you would have thought they wouldn't want to get burnt again after trading down for Jaksch and Whiley last year. Horrid trade that one.

No idea what Carlton's endgame is here...they're making some very questionable moves.

Surely a lock for the spoon next season. Sure anything can happen but christ they look terrible.

That's my question? Plus don't we already own pick 43?

No we don't, our Pick 43 was pushed back to 46 after Hawthorn, West Coast & Brisbane received their free agent compensation.

This is the draft/trade period...

Over the last 2 years with Roos we have picked up Tyson/Salem and Brayshaw/Petracca then of course Vince/Cross and some other young promising kids like Stretch, Frost, ANB, OMac, Harmes, White etc.

It will be interesting to see what else we have if anything past Bugg for this trade period.

If not the next stop is the draft and then getting Petracca & Trengove back on the paddock.

Well that's the one.

I guess this is consistent now, another 2 in this year.

I wasn't too keen on trading out next years draft but we're building real talent.

2 more top picks added plus Petracca and Trengove due back.

If we're as keen on Parish as it seems we are, would the club back themselves in and trade Pick 6 and our 2016 1st Round Pick for Pick 3 and Gold Coast's 2016 2nd round pick, possibly also switching this years Pick 46 with their 35?

Now I'm not one to blow my own horn, but I believe I was the first to suggest this as a possability!

They sold Menzel off for unders, but they got massive overs off the GWS getting back pick 8 - in addition to the bundle of 4 players. When you look at the players that have left GWS over the years - Miles, Adams, Bruce, Tyson. They have all performed. This could end up being a massive win for Carlton.

Indeed with a little luck we could play them twice next year.

Thank you.

Salem was drafted as a midfielder. He'll slot in very nicely there for us in the coming years.

Have Kent or Salem played midfield in the AFL , NO so don't get someone else to back your post up they might've at TAC level but they havnt in the AFL so there's no use including them in midfield rotations, Kent playing in the middle is laughable they guy can barely run out 3 quarters .

Middymalt, for the few years I've been on this forum I've been watching feuds erupt on a regular basis. I often think to myself, "How do these people even remember who is posting?". For the life of me, I couldn't get a grudge to stick...

But your name, my malty friend, is managing to stick hard and fast.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
