Highlights - the lack of real activity is shown up by the fact that we're getting a bit of old news mixed in with the few real highlights

Hawthorn has made a shock move to snatch Jake Carlisle from St Kilda's grasp. The Hawks have come into the play with a three-way trade involving Jed Anderson which is expected to see Carlisle move to the Premiers.

As part of the proposed Carlisle trade, Jed Anderson would move from Hawthorn to North Melbourne, while an exchange of picks would also take place to see the Bombers secure two extra first round picks.

Essendon's Jake Melksham will play for the Demons next season after the two clubs agreed to a trade to see him move in exchange for pick 25.

Lewis Jetta will play at the West Coast Eagles next season after tonight being traded by the Swans in a direct trade for Eagles ruckman Callum Sinclair.

Richmond general manager of football Dan Richardson has slammed Harley Bennell as being "disrespectful" when he visited the club earlier this year.

Collingwood's Paul Seedsman has nominated Adelaide as his destination club of choice, with the two clubs now set to head to the trade table. The Crows beat a number of clubs in attempting to lure Seedsman out of Collingwood.

Matthew Leuenberger is officially an Essendon player after Brisbane elected not to match the club's three-year free agency offer. The Lions will now receive an end of second round compensation pick from the AFL for losing Leuenberger.

most likely.

In 2017? He'll 100% be in Victoria, and highly likely be a Demon.

few things I've heard. Not sure why GC don't cut their losses now and use his contract status as a tool to extract more than they'll get next year.

Anyone who knows the rules re. trades and such, exactly how much power do clubs have to trade players? If Howe says Collingwood and the club says Gold Coast because it's a better deal, who has the most power to force the issue? IF Howe is insistent that he stays in Victoria, could we then trade him to a different Melbourne-based club for better compo? What if the club were to go to him and say outright that they won't trade him to the Pies because they have nothing to trade back that matches his value? From the look of things right now it appears that the clubs have virtually no power when a player decides they want to go to another side

The only power they have is that, if the player walks and nominates for the draft, the player risks being picked up by a club the player doesn't want to play for. If they don't want to play for them, they sit out of AFL for 2 years.

Think yourself lucky that you haven't met him. Absolute nutcase, especially after 3/4 of a bottle of Whisky. Gets all ranty over the smallest things.

As we are twins, I've, been mistaken for him all of my life, and for someone with a horrible memory for people, its a nightmare. I never know if I have forgotten the face, or have never met them before.

Nice to see the Day 4 trade wrap article on the AFL website thinks we'll cave and take Kennedy & a 2nd round pick.

I still say we should tell Collingwood that the asking price for Howe will be Ben Reid (to go to Gold Coast) & Ben Kennedy but they'll get Pick 35 thrown back their way.

Wonder if what Mahoney said is true and the Howe trade is done by the end of the week?

There has been very little use of future picks in this trade period thus far. Hypothetically if gc were open ti trading would our pick 6 and first rounder next year (likely 9-12) get it done?

If we're as keen on Parish as it seems we are, would the club back themselves in and trade Pick 6 and our 2016 1st Round Pick for Pick 3 and Gold Coast's 2016 2nd round pick, possibly also switching this years Pick 46 with their 35?

Suggested the same just the page over.

If we're that keen on Pick 3 then I reckon it shoud, along with moving Pick 46 up to 35.

We can then use that Pick along with Toumpas to try and bring Kennedy & Bugg over.

I have a feeling Toump will stay. We arn't hearing reports of him meeting Port/doing Medicals/manager being a [censored] ect. It's really quiet in the Toumpas camp right now.

Usually is some posturing ect

Still 6 & a half days. Plenty of time.

Once it hits Tuesday, that's when any deals that are yet to be done, you start to wonder about.

The Toump is the kind of player that gets dealt with much later in the trade period.. When clubs see what loose change they have and whats in the bargain bin. Harsh...but reality I wish him well. Cant say that for some others

I can't get excited by Kennedy of Bugg.

Kennedy is a small NQR midfielder and Bugg a strong bodied defender/tagger who'd be fringe best 22.

I understand we need better depth, but all I can conclude is that this draft must be an absolute stinker.

Understand the lack of excitiment, but at the same time they fit the typical Roos recruit that turn into very good team players.

Both have certain attributes I like, so I'll back the club in on both of them.

Do they ? Why ?

I don't see it.

Is Kennedy considered a bit of a tough guy? Cause Bugg certainly has mongrel & Mahoney said something about Melksham being an enforcer type (and he was a very good junior boxer), so maybe that's our theme this year if Kennedy is also along similar lines?

Is that what Roos means by having 22 competitors?

Guys, this talk of trading 2 second-rounders for GWS' first pick isn't new.

It was posited on BigFooty a month ago, and I'm sure I brought the idea over here too.

I'm sure if the club saw it as a good idea, they'd be all over it.

It's been floated well before that too.

I don't mind the idea of Bugg, but struggle to see the purpose of Kennedy. I'll back the decisions that Roos & Co make, but at this stage I'm not too sure what part of the recruiting blueprint Jesse Hogan is so impressed by.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
