His Grandfather help prevent us winning six in a row.

It will be bloody wonderful when is tearing up the Pies on future QB games.

love it.

Would be even better if he was part of our quadruple flag team preferably with the fourth being over Collingwood.

It could be an interesting turn of the wheel were the great RDB to present him with his jumper!!

And ........he wore the number 31.

So did Ray Groom.

Sanderson commented that Weideman could be the steal of the draft. On talent alone he believes he could be a number one talent. If he was able to get some consistent footy together instead of being injured he believes that he could have been the number 1 draft pick.

If we can get this kids body right then we may have our F50 sorted for the next 10 years.

Love how we grabbed Weideman with the pick that belonged to Collingwood prior to trade week.

That'll drive some Pies fans nuts!

(Treloar's a decent consolation…)

SW listed at 196cm. Genuine KP height.

Clayton Oliver will tear "Pretty boy Treloar" a new one!!!!!!

Interesting how highly Weideman is rated ...seems to all be based on past glories. Other players have more relevant runs on the board in recent times which I would have thought carried more weight.

I wouldnt put this guy top 10 let alone waste pick 3 on him

each to own I suppose

Suck it up princess. He's ours now.

The irony of this guy being part of breaking the Norm Smith curse, would be gold.

I'm not generally superstitious, but, on his 100th birthday.... Grand final 2016? Too much? Now is the time of pre-season optimism. I'll be over it round 2.

He is a teenager growing into a tall frame forget about the stress fracture , Hogan had them in the back , stoked to hear he took 12 contested marks in a half v carltons reserves this year . Could be the best player in the draft .

Be interesting to see how we develop and introduce him to AFL level footy over the next year or two. I recon he needs a couple of pre-seasons to develop the engine and strength to play as a key forward against men.

I like what he should become, reminds me a bit of Matty Lloyd... here's hoping.

Welcome to the MFC Sam! :)

He is the chosen one... he will bring balance back to the force

Just worked out that taking Collingwood royalty as our own is the key to ending the Norm Smith curse!

l love the look of this kid and his attitude, he looks and sounds like he wants to play for the Dees and even has the support of some of his collingwood family. I want players who want to play for Melbourne, this guy looks to be a very very good upgrade on Howe.

The one - main - thing that separates Hogan and the other good key forwards from Watts is courage in the air. Hogan has it in spades, Watts has none. The fact JT has described Weideman as having 'elite courage in the air' is promising. Let's hope he has better hands than Dawes and kicks straighter than Ben Holland.

Looks to have a very nice kicking style and can hold a grab, let's hope he can do it in front of a big crowd round 2 against the bombers

I'm just disappointed my Wayne Weidemann joke fell flat. Maybe nobody remembers who he is. :P

I laughed on the inside, mate.

Let's hope he can get fit and get out on the park consistently. If he can he has all the tools to for a good pairing with Hogan up forward. He looks like have a really good overhead marks, good set shot and throws himself at the ball in the air.

Hits me as a mature young man with ambition and pedigree.

Just like with Jack Viney (and Gary Jnr), there's much value in being the son of a player...

The Weideman family and Melbourne go back a long, long way.

Grandfather Murray was one of Collingwood's all time greats and his relationship with Melbourne was particularly firey. There's a story to tell here (and I will tell it) but in the meantime, this is how Knightmare sees the next generation-

22.Sam Weideman (VIC KPF)

Height: 196cm, Weight: 91kg, DOB: 26/06/1997

Recruited from: Eastern Ranges

Reminds me of: Josh Walker

Brief bio: Weideman captured the attention of recruiters with the promise he demonstrated through the AIS AFL Academy games through the preseason. He has through the first half of the TAC Cup season though only played reasonable but largely unimpressive football, and sat out the second half of the season and the U18 championships with injury. He has a nice physical profile with his height and size. He is an above average athlete with reasonably good pace and leaping ability without being a freak athlete. His skills also by position are reasonably good again without being incredible. He is a reasonably strong mark overhead without being dominant, sometimes misreading the flight of the ball. At ground level he is clean enough without being freakish in any way. His scoreboard impact is solid without being spectacular. Where Weideman struggles is endurance running and work rate, both of which are relatively poor at this stage. Additionally his tackling and pressuring ability requires further work.

I laughed on the inside, mate.

The original Weid didn't actually look as ugly as I remembered. If he did away with the mullet and had a shave he'd almost look like a human being, rather than the ogre I remember from my childhood.

Moving on...

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
