Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jack Watts may never be an inside midfielder but he's a beautiful finisher and in some ways a good competitor. Give him a break.

With the added insight grunt to feed him and better targets to hit, is 2016 going to be the year that Jack's assets really start to shine through?

You know, when anyone ever stands up to me re Watts the only thing they ever say is that "he's a beautiful finisher". And I mean the "only".

Here we are drafting a 196 cm tall to partner Hogan and we drafted one in 2008.

He can't even be our Jack Gunston and kick at least 35 goals. No, this beautiful "finisher" finished with 10.

It's beyond a joke.

It is. And you've clearly given up on him as have most of the posters I respect around here. And the impression from the Footy Dept, if you believe the rumours of him being shopped around, is that they've basically given up too. Yet people like me still have hope. Do you think he'll even be named in our round 1 team or has a line already been drawn through his name - "only select in case of injury to others"? The hope I guess, is based on the view that he showed signs of working harder without the ball and taking the game on more with his pace for a period of 4 or 5 after he was given a second chance this year. The hope is also based on the belief that the natural improvement we're expecting across the board should benefit a player like Watts who we consider to be more the cream than the substance. With Hogan and another key tall (Pederson, Dawes, Weideman, whoever...) plus Petracca and vandenBerg as well as Garlett, there appears to be a role for someone with his skill set. The question of course is whether we can compromise our team values to include someone who has so routinely failed to compete. My simple thinking is that he has been loyal to us. He signed when he could have gone elsewhere. He's contracted for this year and therefore if he has a good pre-season and plays to the level he did in the middle of this year, he is at least deserving of a chance at the start of season. And for some reason, with very little evidence to date, I feel like he'll take that chance. Can anyone offer anything more substantial and tangible in their defence of Watts?

In regards Weideman, I like the way he moves and I like the way he links up with team mates. And I like key position players who can snap goals on their non-preferred side! Seems to have good vision (like Hogan) when high up the ground but also a strong presence when the target deep. You can easily imagine the two rotating between FF and CHF.

I'd be happy if he kicked 25 goals, and 20 of them were from joe the goose handballs. Newton kicked 11 goals in 11 games from limited opportunities. Might be a better option in the forward line than Watts.

Even the sole Sam Wiedeman thread, a player we drafted less than 48 hours ago, is hijacked to become another Jack Watts thread.

I think Pro Dee is trying to clarify his position on Jack which in the past has been a little equivocal. I'm glad because I now think I have a handle on where he stands. Some might have understood it earlier than me for which I congratulate them.

Me, now I'm clear so hopefully we can get back to Sam.

FMD we all can see that JW is not good enough so be it he tried his best and failed it's not his fault as they say build a bridge and do us all a favour and jump off it, I feel sorry for JW I can't believe a kid that young can cop that kind of critisism and walk out the other side a better person he's worth 1000 of you.

watched 2 games he played this year, he's no Jesse Hogan, but he's a great contested mark, takes the ball at it's highest point, he's very smart with his leads and no doubt will learn alot from Dawes about this, and he's a lovely set shot at goal, makes the most of his chances

Hogan and Weiderman could be like having Carey and Lloyd in the same forward line

no one is...well almost no one.

Btw, what criticism are you referring to ? Just a couple of quotes will suffice, so I know what not to say next time. I respect the fact you're so invested in my opinion.

Oddly enough i'm encouraged by Trengoves progress. Whether he makes it back entirely or not they seem to have done some good work on his behalf. Pertracca's rehabilitation seems to be going well. This to me indicates they (club) understands the injuries and recovery chances.

Weideman's prognosis must be quite good to draft him with all this in mind.

Back on topic, it will be nice to finally have talls who fly for the ball with "elite courage"

Makes the mids much more confident to take a bailout long kick, when they have something to kick to.

I hope this guy develops as a top ten pick should.

I just hope he develops quickly and we don't have to wait another 2-6 years to c it.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
