The AFL coaches association All-Australian team would be more accurate:

AFL COACHES ASSOCIATION ALL-AUSTRALIAN TEAM:

B: Easton Wood (Bulldogs), Alex Rance (Richmond), Zach Tuohy (Carlton)

HB: Robert Murphy (Bulldogs), Cale Hooker (Essendon), Jarryd McVeigh (Sydney)

C: Dan Hannebery (Sydney), Josh Kennedy (Sydney), Andrew Gaff (West Coast)

HF: Brett Deledio (Richmond), Jake Stringer (Bulldogs), Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide)

F: Chad Wingard (Port Adelaide), Josh Kennedy (West Coast), Jack Gunston (Hawthorn)

FOLL: Todd Goldstein (North Melbourne), Matt Priddis (West Coast), Nat Fyfe (Fremantle)

INT: David Mundy (Fremantle), Bernie Vince (Melbourne), Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood), Nic Naitanui (West Coast)

Wouldn't be surprised if Lids made it.

Pendles is a class act but there are a few ahead of him this year.

Gunston was a tough one.

McVeigh for mine is cooked, turning into a cheap possession merchant.

What would the coaches know? It’s them and not the AFL who are ruining our game…at least according to the Media™.

Interesting that the coaches opted for Hooker and not Hurley from the Dons like many junkyard scribes have. He was widely tipped to win their B&F - and did.

Also agree with Tuohy's selection but putting bias aside I think Mitchell's stiff not to have Bernie's spot.

In summary, tonight's a crock.

THREE Richmond players: Rance, Riewoldt and Deledio.

Riewoldt at the expense of Walker and Deledio at the expense of JPK. Deledio played 17 games this season.

Kevin Bartlett has no place in this process. He simply can't control his bias.

I thought the selectors wimped out with this team tonight.

There is no player who could take relief ruck duties and even though Goldy shoulders most of the work at North he still gets a break. If he goes down???

No coach would go in with this configuration and they didn't...

I've never rated Deledio, until this year.

He was brilliant as unlucky as Kennedy was.

No doubt he was very good. Richmond are rubbish without him.

But at the expense of Kennedy who was superbly consistent, is a joke. Particularly when Deledio missed a chunk of the season.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
