Howe and 4th round pick to Fremantle for Tabenar and Fremantles 3rd round pick.

2nd round pick to Gold Coast for Bennell and Gold Coast 3rd round pick

Then try to get some free agents.

Have you not heard that Roos doesn't want to go for Bennell? As much as Roos could be creating a smoke screen for a quiet deal, he was quite clear in saying Bennell was not what we were looking for.

Edit. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-15/giant-hampton-seeks-trade-for-more-opportunities

"Melbourne coach Paul Roos categorically ruled out the Demons as a candidate for recruiting Bennell. Roos said Bennell did not fit with "where we are at the moment as a club," adding, "we just wouldn't pursue him through list management."

Some of those descriptions are helpful. "Tough-nut" means unskilled; "utility" means he didn't have a position to call his own; "tall" means he wasn't actually good enough to be called a ruckman or a key position player.

Great clubman means "no ability but didn't have the heart to cut a good bloke"

All played in a grand final........Can't have been too cosy.......I don't remember them putting in short steps when it was their turn

well, they were all talented, but not ruthless winners. we were absolutely pants'd in 2000 gf.. by a hungry outifit that wante our blood in a bottle. & they got more than that they got our souls as well.

we went backwards from that pantsing... you can see the leadup from 96' we weren't really up to it, snuck in 2000, thrashed & never really recovered to get better.

1996 - 14th

1997 - 16th

1998 - 4th

1999 - 14th

2000 - 3rd

2001 - 11th

2002 - 6th

2003 - 14th

2004 - 5th

2005 - 7th

2006 - 7th

2007 - 14th

2008 - 16th

we recruited to fill holes around 2003, but we really weren't good enough, genuinely. this club never works hard enough defensively, so other clubs love playing us, & we always over estimate our depth of talent.

Demons to Hamish Hartlett and Andrew Moore from Power.

Demons to get Trent Mckenzie from Suns.

Give up 6, Howe, Toumpas.

Seriously Norm? Highly, highly unlikely.

Howe and second round to the Suns for Dion Prestia and third round. (Agrees after Paul Roos personally agrees to mow his mum's lawn).

We tell Essendon to go and jump and then convince melksham to litigate against EFC for failing in their duty and he walks to the preseason draft.

We convince gws to take Toumpas and Watts in exchange for Toby Greene who is put into young man christian classes and becomes an ourstanding member of society.

Then we surprise everyone when Luke Shuey opts for a trade to melbourne in exchange for chris dawes

Mate, your trade propositions are sub-BigFooty quality.

Que?

More likely to have the opposite effect.

Except for Martin, no Melb player has been successful at their new club and are usually de-listed not long after.

Frawley has struggled to learn the Hawk's system.

Sylvia trade went up in smoke.

Now, reports are that clubs have gone cold on Howe and there is no interest in Watts.

It seems clubs are 'gun shy' of taking MFC, pre Roos players.

Has Roos made too much of the 'past mental scars' and the footy world believes him?

The lack of takers for our players doesn't bode well for getting anything/anyone decent in return.

Have you never heard of Earl Spalding, Darren Jolly, or Troy Simmonds?

If we can throw bigger cash at Treloar than what Collingwood and the Tigers are offering, and get him to want to come to us. Which one is most likey:

Pick 6 & 2016 1st round Pick ---> Treloar

Howe + pick 6 ---> Treloar

Howe + Pick 6 + Pick 25 + Pick 61---> Treloar + Hampton

Pick 6 + Pick 25 + Pick 43 ---> Treloar

FMD there is no chance he is coming to the dees. This whole theory of offering more cash when they have made up their mind is stupid. So you can scrap that whole idea.

He is collingwood bound. Simple

The easy way in life is to think about what most likely will happen. The people or organisations that succeed in life go and get and work hard for what they want. Just like we did with Mitch 'dog' Clark. Wasn't he going to Freo?! People change their mind with everything in life my friend. If you haven't worked that out, you have some learning to do.

Mitch Clark is one pathetic example that gets ysed around alot, he was a complete dodgy bloke. Get over it. Answer me this, has there been another Mitch Clark scenario since?

Yeh there's not too many but it won't stop Todd Viney and co from trying. All clubs will be throwing deals at players managements that have already nominated a club. I'm glad your not part of our recruiting department.

To a certain extent yes - Paul Roos. He was going nowhere for months. Not interested...not interested...not interested - then bingo.

I agree with you that it looks to me that Treloar is going to the Pies and I also think that Danger is going to the cats. We, like most of the cellar dwellers, have to throw a little more to get quality at our club and even though the responses most likely will be a resounding no, I would keep on throwing out offers to anyone we want no matter how convinced we are they won't come. No only means no the day after trading is over.

( as another example - the Cats were convinced they had Frawley signed sealed and delivered all last year- Hawks had a red hot go later in the picture and bingo. We aint no Hawthorn but we still should keep throwing our hat in the ring. The worst that will happen is a player may continue to say no.

Buddy!

And if there is any truth to the rumours surrounding both players their OM is almost identical as is the path to the current eerily similar predicaments.

Offer enough and they have to give it some pretty serious thought. It's a case of what we're willing to sacrifice to get a player of that calibre to the club. That's why people were willing to believe the Dangerfield rumour. The club could afford to pony up that sort of cash, and if we did make an offer like that I don't think there's a player in the league who wouldn't stop and think about it.

    There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

    Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
