Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM

A few posters on Bomberblitz mention in passing that Melksham has been affected more by the ASADA sage than any other player at the club

I wonder why that is? Maybe he got injected more than most by Dankenstein, or maybe he was very worried as he has two young kids I believe.. perhaps he got his wife pregnant at the time Dank was there and pumping god knows what into the players

Just speculating

Or maybe it's because all humans are different and respond to stressful situations differently? Just putting this wild, crazy idea out there...

The other wild crazy idea is that the Essendung supporters could be full of crap.

So we have identified him as a HBF - Salem into the middle from 2016?

Probably not, but that is where he will end up.

no jack Grimes left right out

From the 'Fox' website:

MELKSHAM WORTH THE MONEY

MELBOURNES acquisition of Jake Melksham raised plenty of eyebrows, but according to list manager expert Chris Pelchen he is worth the money.

The Dees parted with their second selection at the draft pick 25 for Melksham, who has never lived up to his potential at the Dons.

Melksham, 24, has played 114 games with Essendon after being taken with pick 10 in the 2009 national draft.

Although he has averaged just 16.5 disposals per game in that time, Pelchen believes a second-round selection still represents fair value.

I think its a fair price for both clubs to pay, he said. Ultimately, Melbourne gets the player they want and Essendon gets fair value in return.

Coming through the TAC Cup, he had enormous potential. He was a leader both in endurance and speed. Hes a prototype AFL player in terms of size.

Unfortunately, he hasnt lived up to his potential.

In saying that, hes 24 and hes got over 100 games of experience. He should be ready to play his best football. I say should because at the moment he hasnt reached any great heights.

Melbourne would be investing in the fact his best football should be ahead of him. They will know in the next 12-24 months whether it ends up being a good buy.

If he becomes the player we thought he would become, then its a cheap buy at pick 25.

Pfff, what would Pelchen know? Or Goodwin, McCartney or Roos? Demonlanders said it was a terrible deal so it must be.

Over 100 games at 24 is a good achievement. He becomes a walk up start to our 22 and I think will flourish in a new, fresh environment.

Pick 25 is a fair price to pay for that.

I don't mind the deal. Second round pick in a weak draft for an experienced player that we know can play at AFL level. He finished top 5 in Essendon's 2013 b&f and was a high draft pick. The potential is there and if Roos and Goodwin think they can turn him around then I support the trade. FFS he actually wants to play for us. Few others do. Would rather have him than keep Howe or Toumpas or any other player who wants to play elsewhere.

I'm a Melksham fan... have been for a long time. I welcome the addition and I wouldn't limit him to the backline. Melksham can have an influence in the centre and he can hit the scoreboard! Another master stoke at the right time for our recruiters.... More to come in the next week!

Jack Watts has played 100 games and is a walk up start in our 22. No other club would touch him for that price.

The 100 games is a statistic. It means nothing on it's own. He was a high draft pick that was ready to play early and mostly played in a mid level team or below that never had huge pressure for spots. Certainly at no stage did Essendon have a deep midfield.

The experience means he knows what it takes to play AFL but we are moving his position which counters against that.

Yet the only thing that matters is WADA. Its no good being able to play footy if you can't grace the field. Pick 25 for a slightly above VFL level (on results) player, who faces the prospect of a 2 year ban. Aghh, no thanks.

For anyone that thinks he's a dud, go and YouTube the highlights of the Essendon v Carlton game of Rd 11 2013 and check out who kicks the clutch winning goal with 1:30 left.

Also everyone's stressing about Melksham's possible suspension, but nobody has ever posed the same concerns about Carlisle, who was likely part of the 34.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
