Toumpas is a bust , even if melksham is suspended for a year he will have more upside , the guy can play and has a couple ahead of him at the bombers . We need some players who can finish and he is one that can hit up lace out. Toumpas has played a good game or 2 this year and I wish him all the best at Port.

Nasher, is Demonland working properly? Looks like two posts have been merged into one here. I'm not sure whether CityDee wrote the the first bit which is highly critical and dismissive of Toumpas or whether he wrote the last half which takes an alternate view.

I read it as one post.

It concerns me slightly that Port are into Toumpas.

They identify and nurture midfield talent as well as any club - and they obviously know Toumpas from his playing days in Adelaide.

Perhaps he is still going to be the player we hoped he would be when he was drafted - just not with the MFC.

Could be a similar story to Polec. Would rather keep Jimmy, especially if we're only getting Melksham in return.

If he plays well at Port, so be it. If every club took your mindset, no trades would get done.

If Melksham, Kennedy and Bugg play well for us (assuming we get them), I couldn't care less what Toumpas does at Port.

I think port simply see a calculated risk/reward situation, they give up a pick for a player who is at least handy depth but had huge upside potentially as well, i think a move home might be great for jimmy

West Coast were into Morton, Fremantle were into Sylvia, Geelong were into Blease, North Melbourne were into Gysberts and Richmond were into Maric.

I'm not concerned.

The sad thing is that we were into all of them.

If Dimitri finds his was home via port. Good. If he becomes what some think he might ( but i doubt ) thats fine by me i really couldn't care less.

Why ?

He represents little substantiated value with us. Forget the 4 tag that was a bust. That he cant find his feet yet in our 22 is a double bust.

That another team thinks they can get value....good for us.

Hope he goes...win for him. Bigger win for us.

All good ...

For Toumpas to make it at Port he will have to completely change his running and strength/power.

At the moment he looks as though he runs up and down on the spot.

We have never really seen any of his football skills because he is always under too much pressure and can't get any separation from opponents. He doesn't have any agility/evasive skills, he doesn't have a burst of speed, he doesn't have power to break or shrug a tackle, he has no vertical leap. He's a poor athlete in football terms.

If Port can change that, then good luck to them. All it would prove to me is that Misson has no idea.

If we can trade Toumpas for Melksham who has some strength, some toe, some mongrel, and can kick a goal, I'll be doing cartwheels, because unless you can completely rebuild Toumpas, he is absolutely no hope.

2nd rounder for Melksham and the Scums 3rd round.

That 3rd rounder to Collingwood for Kennedy.

Basically Melksham and Kennedy for our 2nd pick.

Bit to play out (the annual Dodoro grab for glory that will no doubt hold things up), but that's the word right now.

I haven't really seen much of Kennedy other than QB but that looks like a pretty fair/decent trade for us CIP. Still don't like the 4 year deal but otherwise seems to make some sense.

I'll say it again. We must have received word from WADA or the AFL that stipulates he won't receive a ban. Or at least, that it won't occur during the season.

Bollocks. As if the afl or wada would give such an assurance. The club would have a best guess on outcome most likely and would factor a possible suspension into the equation in a similar way they would a potential injury.

Sounds reasonable enough. I like that it appears a locked in deal. Sends a good message that a player, who despite the predictable spud labels, would have options has chosen the NFC as his club

agree it's bollox, but i can't see how they can factor in the unknown unless they have very good augurs or haruspices on the team

I actually don't mind this. I think it's a really efficient use of a pick.

Plus you get to play the numbers games. Odds are that at least one of these two will benefit us more than the single draft pick.

Ron, its also about environment, & some people grow better in they're local environment, rather than an away environment. Support is critical in development, at least the persons perception of feeling supported.

stress is a big killer of learning & of growth.

What's the real story behind Kennedy though? Rated by more than not, Pies will take a pic in the 40's for him in a supposed weak draft? What are we missing here?

Jimmy won't develop here at melbourne, he's shown that. the best outcome is for us to take one of they'res in SA, players who have (homesick) not developed, & do a like for like swap.

perhaps a rounding of picks to balance?

aren't you describing Jack Trengove ?

really, we saw Trenners can run early days, but injury & STRESS played a big toll.

JToumpas is still young enough to not have lost his desire to get there. & Trenners already knows he can. fact.

we should look to a WinWin for the Toump', & ourselves.

I'd rather look to a 3way trade with Port & GWS for some sorta deal. involving Plowman/Tomlinson/Toump/ any others we not sure about from these clubs.

Could it be that Melksham leaves Essendon and somehow has a restraint of trade case "light on"

Just who would be running the " Sport in Australia " show then?
