Yyeah and 1/3 die doing the speed limit, the worst thing someone has done in their life is not the sum of their whole character, I wonder if people are judging him more harshly because of his native skin.

No one is judging him by his skin FFS! We are all judging his decision for drink driving (potentially putting lives on risk) failing to take a breatho (another dumb and stupid mistake) and obviously going through a stop sign which again is mind boggling.. None of those have got nothing to do with skin at all, its all up in between the ears.

Forget about age, race, colour, etc.. he is an idiot for what he did.

I reckon you'd find 99% of people don't even know the Curnow's are Indigenous.

I didn't. And a quick internet search shows Ed Curnow listed in several Indigenous players listings but also not mentioned in Carlton articles about Betts/Yarran/Garlett and talk about him being Mauritian.

As far as I care the Curnow's are from Geelong. I consider that a separate racial grouping.

funny never occured to me that Curnow may be indigenous... Its irrelevant. What is , is that he made some very poor choices and possibly endangered people.

Colour isnt a factor here...stupidity is. and thats ALL its about.

The notion of racism is a straw element

Seems that this is in fact true....It's been kept pretty quiet.

For some reason knowing this makes me want the Dees to draft him now.

Knowing how enigmatic and electric indigenous players can often be that excites me that he could become a Goodes like forward/mid with great endurance & goal sense.

I was just thinking yesterday that this is exactly what we need - a match winner. Now I know why I was sticking up for him so much.

Club Aboriginal players in 2007-2011 [1,2,3,4,5,7] Adelaide Crows (SA) Andrew McLeod, Cameron Ellis-Yolmen, Ed Curnow, Graham Johncock, Jared Petrenko, Jarrhan Jacky, Jonathon Griffin, Richard Tambling, Tim Milera, Tony Armstrong

Charlie,

All is forgiven mate...just focus on sobering up and we'll see you on the stage in Adelaide on Tues night wearing Demons colours.

Mock Draft edit:

1. Carlton - Weitering

2. Brisbane - Schache

3. Sydney - Mills

4. Melbourne - Parish

5. GWS - Hopper

6. GWS - Kennedy

7. Essendon - Francis

8. Essendon - Oliver

9. Gold Coast - Milera

10. Melbourne - Curnow

11. Carlton - Weideman

Drafing the two Falcons boys together would be a good outcome.

I don't know why, but i'm finding that Curnow and Weideman are the 2 guys i'm hoping we land. Even with the respective D/D incident and underwhelming testing.

Parish just appears to be very vanilla to me. Curnow has X-factor, plus a tank and big body to possibly make it in the mid-field.

Weideman also fills another need for us. KPF who can help out Max in the ruck from time to time.

You've sold me.

Edit:

Pick 4 - Weidemen

Pick 10 - Curnow

Pick 40 - Lovell

Pick 46 - Morgan

People are obssessed with Jesse Stringer prototype.

He is not Jesse Stringer.

Looks slower and has little form to suggest he will be a midfielder.

Jake Stringer.

Jesse Stringer played for Geelong.

Edited the bit about his (Jesse's) violent side out.

And just when you thought this thread had reached its quota of moronic posts.

I posted this elsewhere, but it's worth being in the appropriate thread...

Oliver shone in the strong GVFL senior competition in 2014 as a 16/17 year old.
He played 11 games in the midfield, kicked 9 goals and was named in the best on 6 occasions. He played 6 of the 11 games as a 16 year old - against men.
He's from Echuca, where his Father also played football and his Mother netball. Todd Viney lived in Echuca for years and I suspect he knows a great deal about Oliver and his pedigree. Maybe he doesn't want to let another Ollie slip. And he seems to play in a very similar fashion, although he has better pace and sideways movement.
The more I learn about him the more I like.

Charlie Curnow thread champ.

You mean Jake Stringer, and its unlikely we'll find a comparison to Stringer. He is Ablett Snr like in his strength, confidence and football skills. Unlikely to reach the heights of the great man, but likely to be a superstar all the same. I don't see any comparisons in this draft.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
