Jack Darling slept with a girl in a tent on school camp. This guy is pulling this rubbish the week before he's due a massive contract. At his size, his career could really go either way, with his decision making he's clearly on the back foot now.

Didn't he get thrown out of a nightclub?

Posted

Silly boy, but if the club was set on drafting him, they should. Luke Hodge failed a breathalizer leading up to the finals, and you'd think he'd know better.

sounds like such but only a real idiot would risk what the Police, may , or may not do.

Sounds like a conspiracy...more just a dlckhead !!

Which is exactly what they want you to believe - don't be suckered in.

He might be a bit of a lad to begin with, but it's just way too much of a coincidence this happening right now, not to mention the way it has been broadcast through the media.

Here's a question for you to consider.... you don't think any of the other 17-18 year old's looking to get drafted have played up in the last 12 months in some way? Why haven't these stories been plastered all over the media?

I doubt he'll get 2 years suspension if it's his first offence.

Legislated BBP, 2 years is the minimum.

So a club told him to go out and get drunk, take the P's off his car and deliberately drive through a stop sign in the proximity of a police car. Then refuse a breath test. So he slips down the draft order. Sounds pretty realistic. What if he had've hit and killed someone?

He has made a few terrible decisions in an instant as a drunk 18 year old. I'm sure we all have.

However, you have to question the intelligence/common sense of the guy to put himself in this situation only 4 days out from the biggest day of his life.

It is a poor display and on top of his rumored laziness issues it gives me more reason to hope that we steer clear of him. This feels like Colin Sylvia repeating itself.

All young people play up to a degree. But this shows he has poor judgement. You could forgive him if he had of taken the test, but to drive drunk and then also refuse shows just how poor it is.

Ignored a stop sign, didn't have his P plates on, refused breath test so likely drink driving, lost licence for 2 years.

Yeah, don't think Roos will have much interest in someone with decision making like that. Almost certainly zero chance for pick 3 now.

If it's some secret strategy concocted by another team to make him slide, and he's dumb enough to be complicit in such a scheme despite legal ramifications and a police record, why would we want anything to do with him?

In either scenario there are serious red flags about his character and his judgement.

another club couldn't make suggestions to him or coerce him to do such an anti-social thing as carefully go through a stop sign. but a brother might?

Said club is so rotten with paper bag dealings, it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Who hasn't?

it's a right of passage ...no ?

I went through the same thing as a 19 year old drinking on my P's, and I had no idea of my rights when sitting in a police station awaiting a breath test, so I can totally understand the panic aspect especially with what is happening on Tues night. It is totally plausible that the P plate part is nothing more than them not being displayed properly or something and dirt gathering by the authorities, and in regards to the Stop sign, if I had police following and pressuring me, I'd probably go through a stop sign because I'd freak out and not pay proper attention to my driving.

The drinking bit....Most 18 year old's let their hair down at this time of the year and the choice to drive is not a good one but I did it, and I regard myself as a solid law abiding citizen who under pressure to not be able to get home made a poor choice.

I don't know if the club wants to take him or not, but I'd be [censored] if they did and they let this media built up bull-dust convince them otherwise.

There's a difference between "driving drunk" and driving after having a drink (1 or 2). He's a P Plater, so he's needs to blow .00. Probably thought by removing the P's that he could get away it. Refusing to blow is hard to justify.

Geez I love how these boards go in to meltdown after the tiniest skerrick of information.

I've got a mate who's been done drink driving, and I would trust him with my life.

If the club liked Charlie, then I would have no problem with him at the club.

If the club DOES end up drafting him, for gods sake guys please give him a chance to show who he actually is before launching in to him like you are right now.

Fair enoigh and I see your point, but did your friend refuse a test from the Police?

That for me is crossing a big line. I actually don't think it'll effect his draft position at all, but it speaks to a complete disregard for authority and the safety of others.

A kid willingly giving himself a criminal record just to play with a certain club (when he can just be traded after 2 years anyway) is possibly the most moronic conspiracy theory I've ever heard.

If it were true, the depth of his stupidity has no ceiling.

Well said mate.

If the club were interested in him with one of our top picks, this wouldn't scare them off. It just means a little bit of education and support is needed.

If we had question marks about him, then we won't be drafting him after this episode.

Not saying he willingly gave himself a police record, more likely certain people new what he was going to be up to and had a hand and it playing out the way it did.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
