POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 11

Featured Replies

Experienced leaders are our problem week in and week out.

We didn't deserve to win. Our leaders went missing when we needed them the most.

But honestly, if you're game enough to watch that game again, you'll see we were lucky to be that close for most of the game.

Which is pretty pathetic given how even the teams are.

Why was there not 15 in the backline as soon as Howe kicked the goal? You could see Roosy yelling it into the phone. Surely the players practice this in their drills or at least know what to do?

They've played in that many loses, I honestly couldn't see them practising to win.

My 7 year old: I'm starting to get in the mood to stop supporting them. They're too bad at footy.

Gutted. Might have lost a supporter for life right there. Bunch of dumb cnuts.

St Kilda deserved to win. And how about next time we hit the lead with 40 seconds left, we wait til after the game to get around and start dry rooting each other.

Still cant beat a [censored] Saints team

Still cant win at Etihad

Cant even win a game thats there for us to win deep into the last quarter

We haven't improved under Roos at all. It is a disgrace

Last goal was a [censored] disgrace

[censored] off Melbourne

Paul Roos is 99% to blame today

We get in front with minutes to go. He doesn't put Jones in the guts. He doesn't put 3 extra back. He does sweet [censored] all.

This team is a joke. I've had a gutful.

No way... You can not in 40 seconds relay a message to get players back. That is a players driven to push numbers back... This loss is %100 on the players. Roos couldn't do anything

Again, so much inertia when the pressure is up, and it is the older players feeding that inertia too...

We played well but the last was full of sideways kicking and lack of adventure.

It is such a shame because a win is great, but this loss will take away from Jimmy Toumpas' excellent game on a very good player in Montagna.

But 415 touches for 42 Inside 50s tells you everything...

Dumb, just so.......dumb.

Cannot even fathom how stupid that was. Two games in a row stupidity has cost us dearly. This one hurts more. How do we keep losin to this rabble.

Just went outside and smashed up part of my old kitchen that is going ti the tip. At least I can watch Orphan Black now I have cleared the anger out.

Surely the players DID NOT KNOW there was only 41 seconds to go (& a 4 point lead)!!!??!!

Why isn't there some way of quickly letting them know??

Surely ANY forward knows that in that situation they flood the defense!

They shouldn't need specific instruction from a couch or leader to flood back when you're ahead with 41 seconds to play!

They should already be trained to do that, please.

Too many VfL players who can't play @ afl level..... I wonder how many goals were from dumb mistakes????

Paul Roos should have relayed the message earlier that if we get in front we flood back.

Don't need to wait until after it happens to do it.

Come on, it's basic coaching.

Paul Roos is a Neeld level match day coach

If he doesnt fix the culture he should hand back every cent we pay him cos he isnt here for his coaching ability thats for sure

You can't blame Roos for the lack of numbers back with 40 seconds left. That's 100% the players' fault. You can perhaps blame him for other things if you want, but that can't be one of them.

Positives were Toumpas

VInce (38 touches to Armitage's 20)

Hogan

Viney (loses serious credits for the jumper punch)

Still very, very disappointed. We better [censored] [censored] these [censored] when we play them at the MCG, and we better [censored] win at Etihad next time we play there.

Bunch of [censored] flogs. Can't wait to watch Hogan win the Coleman at a good team.

Where was the leadership today? Jones did nothing after the first quarter, Dunn was shocking and H was well beaten. At least Cross puts his body on the line for the team.

Really can't be bothered with this anymore.

Roos? WTF? Coach them to flood, man up the loose player when we hit the front and defend at all cost. Very frustrating. And don't blame the players. If you communicated effectively this wouldn't have happened.

Obviously if it wasn't for Hogan we wouldn't be in the game but why is it a guy that size and that strong can't kick 50 meters?

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
