Really pleased for King. Hopefully the development league form translates.

JKH playing in the dev league. Suggests to me he's at least 3 weeks away from being fit enough for MFC selection - this game will be a 50%er I reckon, to be followed by a limited game in the seniors and a full game in the seniors at least.

Kennedy-Harris in the Development League??

And Harmes??

Yes, I understand there's a truckload of players to come out of the line-up but puleese, Harmes is named in the starting 18.

I can't see he did much wrong last week.

I 'll assume JKH has spent a month on the couch with his groin grief

Yep, I'm assuming JKH is for fitness, as per my post above.

There's no way Harmes will play in the DL, surely. Suspect they just had to name someone.

Edit: All of the extended seniors bench are named in the starting 18 for the DL except for Gent, Morris, White and the 23rd player Hannon. So if you take out four MFC players and take those four as a given, there are three spots available, of which Harmes will surely be one.

Surely not and I hope that's the case with Harmes.

Some of the other names in the DL, indicate it should change? Rutherford, Munro etc

King in the seniors!

Hip hip hooray!

I will be interested to hear from KC and others how much time King plays ruck vs how much Jamar does.

And of course how he acquits himself at a higher level.

If he gets more time than Jamer it may be a message to Mark that he is on the way out - if that message hasn't been sent already.

Spencer will most likely play too (pending MFC selection) - if that's the case I expect King will play the whole game as a full forward.

We need King to be a good forward and a decent ruckman more than we need him to be a good ruckman anyway, IMO. A David Hale circa 2012/2013 type should be his ambition.

Probably some time for him at CHF as well given Dawes will likely be on restricted minutes.

Rucks can be found pretty easily, I think capable forward/2nd ruck types who can function as part of a proper forward line and give ruck relief are much harder to find and more valuable, so I agree if King can be a good forward then at 200cm we can train him to battle in the ruck.

Not sure that rucks can be found so easily but you are right about the forward/ruck. Most clubs are looking to fill this one...

I think he has that message already mono

The only way I see him back at AFL level is injury to Spencer and Gawn.

He does not offer as much as either of them.

Gotcha!

PS Question for KC:

Walmsley started the season in pretty good form (IMO).

He seems to have disappeared. Has he been injured or finding it hard to get a seniors birth?

Thanks

Like many of those who were at the pre season practice games, Walmsley looked exceptional as an outside running player with a bit of skill. I think he was suited to the conditions and the lower game pressure during that period and might not have adjusted that well when the real thing started and opposition clubs started fielding full teams with a lot of AFL listed and experience. I think he probably needs time to get used to the higher standard of play compared to the SFL competition where he played last year.

An example of teams going up a notch in pressure and standards, one of the practice matches was against Werribee who fielded a fairly weak line up and they were slaughtered that week by Casey. Werribee is now in the VFL top four.

Anyone getting there early, would love to hear any report of how Hunt goes please!

Justin Plapp summed up Jayden Hunt's game last week on the mfc site as follows:-

"Jayden Hunt: Hunty missed the majority of the pre-season, so he’s still building. We haven’t got a lot of pressure on him at the moment – we just want to increase his game time. We’re adding things to his game and he’s got some great assets in his offensive side of his game. We’re encouraging him to take the game on, but we’re also refining a few things. Hunty’s on the right track and he continues to grow as well. He’s a good kid and listens as well."

Reading between the lines, this means that he's progressing very slowly if at all. I'm not sure if he's going to make it.

He is still growing? Taller does he mean?

Are Casey games streamed online or do they just upload the game afterwards?

I'm only aware of one game this season that was streamed direct and that was earlier in the season when Casey played Essendon VFL.

Since then, it's been difficult finding any publicity or TV or radio broadcasts of Casey games for some reason - Casey Radio covers other games and we're not popular with the 7 programmers either.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
