i have to admit i thought watching at the ground, Toumpas had a poor game but after watching the replay I'll take that back. He had a very solid running game, blemished by a few clangers (which much have stood out for me at the game)

had the run. I was at the game, so you can see how he runs lengths of the ground to link up. Similar to Watts. You can't see that on telly.

Certainly doesn't have the speed yet.

While he did have some very bad moments he kept at it, won a couple of contests in spectacular fashion and was a real contributor.

Why not go with that. Live in the moment, as Neale D used to say.

You can hang s*&$ on him later if that's appropriate but be decent enough to acknowledge he made a difference.

Today's performance while encouraging is totally irrelevant if he doesn't back It up next week, he showed far more courage both in his attack on the ball, and in his decisions with ball in hand and the level of his gut running was an example of why he went at number 4 in the draft, that is the standard I expect to see as a minimum from now though, the kid has ability Now he just needs to keep the momentum and build

That said ToumpAs game yesterday was the first semi solid game he has played and he definitely showed a bit. I'm hopeful he can now string a couple more together and really cement himself in starting 22 and look dangerous to the opposition.

Definitely not going to get carried away but very happy he played well. I think with another pre season he may start to get that speed back that he seemed to have lost due to the hip surgery. I still have a feeling he will turn out to be a solid AFL wing/half forward who can also have stints in the middle.

They went with O'Rourke over Toumpas so I don't think that is 100% correct as he seems a similar sort of player.

If they were simply drafting for competitiveness they would've taken Wines. I think Toumpas will have a strong second half to this season which he can build on to really come on next year, which is perfectly fine as he is still only 21.

Always been a huge Leon Cameron fan. Loved him as a player and he's as smart a coach as he was a player.

But let's face it, GWS had so many high draft picks that they couldn't lose. They were always going to be a fearsome team at some stage. It was a matter of when, not if.

It's like someone who's inherited a trillion dollars telling everyone the secret of how to make money.
