Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Time to ditch the Paleo.

I lost count how many times their bigger bodies simply shrugged us off with ease.. We look so much smaller and skinnier that even our jumpers look like they are all XL size.

It was worth a try at the start to get more miles into the legs but our midfield is just way too small to compete against the likes of Sydney and Freo.

Its simply not working. Must find a way this pre season to get bigger without losing the speed and indurance because atm we just look way too light.

I believe BBO and Biff are on the paleo diet.

Thier results should give us a better understanding and whether to carry on with it or not.

I think you might be jumping the gun. For the first time I think our first/second years are actually bulking up.

Anyway I think you will find that a lot of clubs have actually now adopted the diet.

You don't need to be massive to lay a good tackle

Just finished a 6 week paleo diet. Slightly modified to allow a protein shake with oats after the gym and low fat ricotta before bed.

Put on 5kg and lost 4% bf.

I did cardio 4 times a week plus 2 swimming sessions and a 4 weights sessions.

I obviously did nowhere near as much cardio as our guys but would have struggled on a pure paleo diet with their sort of training.

Carbs aren't the enemy, craved carbs after a workout the small amount of oats assisted with recovery and replenishing energy.

They're not on a pure paleo diet, never have been.

Put on 5kg and lost 4% bf in 6 weeks? Great job if you're serious but i've never heard of someone doing that before. Means you put on about 8kgs of muscle in 6 weeks

I ate 7 smaller meals a day. Breakfast was a 6 egg omelette. Every second meal had brocolli and sweet potato and chicken breast. Obviously ate a lot and worked out heaps.

Agree, so whatever the "Percieved" benefits of the Paleo clearly aren't working with our guys!

Would love to know what Nat Fyfe eats and his weight training regime!

I knew we would get some ridiculous topics after a loss, congratulations, this weeks winner, every player I have spoken to has said they are fitter and stronger, maybe we could find a better diet for their minds, coz that is where the problems are at the moment

Cause and effect!!

There is no evidence whatsoever that suggests the low carb diet is the problem for our woes. Despite all of the moaning on this forum, we are actually playing better than last season. Whilst I do not therefore claim that this a direct result of the diet, it is certainly not evidence of a problem in the diet.

It was the gym toilet. I didn't lock the door though...

Good for you Ethan. Hard to lock the door without a hand free. Mobile phones not permitted in the toilets or change rooms of my gym. Like you I still sneak one in but!

Love the illogic of the paelo diet being somehow the natural human diet. For the last 10,000 years most people have lived off grains which led to a massive increase in human numbers. If you didn't perform well on that dominant food source you probably didn't produce many or any 20th century descendants. Natural selection has favoured humans who thrive on grains.

That's not to say it may be the wonder diet for some rare class of current humans, eg footballers and tiddly-wink players, but the benefits of paelo are hardly established by simply appealing to our pre-Neolithic past. Unfortunately it would be hard to do a double-bind test of players' diets.

TDI, seeing as you're the inside man could you ask the players if they are still on the version of the diet they were on late last year. I have heard from someone with supposed inside knowledge that they have gone away from the paleo diet.

Neolithic diets are great at keeping you alive long enough to have lots of babies. It's not great at making you the healthiest you can be.

The last two weeks we have been physically dominated by mature bodies in the opposition midfields. Take out Daniel Cross from our team and our average age plummets. When you have a midfield with players 25-28yo, you can overpower a young midfield regardless of your diet.

Also, the amount of blocking and shepherding work that Freo did in particular, is knocking our inexperienced players off and away from the ball as there is contact when they're not expecting it. The physical pressure that these team apply cannot be prepared for in a gym.

Our guys would have learnt a lot this week and last about how to play as a physical, high pressure and intensity team.

Until they understand this, they'll look like children vs men.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
