Let's raid the Gold Coast

Recommended Posts

Let's see how hard GC implode through this seaon before we raid any players.

Remember no sporting club survives up there

This could be the biggest $$$ killer in AFL history

Meanwhile all those draft kids were lost.

Nice one Vlad

Funny how everyone thought GWS would be the one that implodes and be a disaster

They look like Manchester United compared to the Suns

GWS needs to start getting people to their games before they start championing the "success" call. Even a premiership this year wouldn't get people to their games. I'm still convinced they'd have been better off going to Canberra and staying there.

They won't last either. Even the lions are $13 mill in debt.

It can only get worse

But GC is a party town. It will explode the loudest.

I agree GWS are a joke , just saying they are operating much better than GC, they seem much moire professionally run.

Still wish a Tassie team came in at the expense of one of them.

I'm sure that's a temptation that most of the AFL community would have felt at some stage

I don't think Rocket realised what he was walking into, i've heard they're a team of cocky, selfish, egotistical individuals with little to no idea of how to function as a team, they look impressive at times because of the sheer talent levels they have but they don't have the culture, plan, mentality at this stage to do it consistently enough to realise their potential as a team.

all of the problems start with the captain imo, great individual player, but their whole plan has basically been get the ball to gaz, they can't function without him, and even when he plays he feeds off that mentality.

It was a very funny segment that when 'Robbo' talked about a GC player (one of those suspended by the club). The 'Ox' did the sums pretty quickly and came up with Bennell and 'Robbo' had to admit it.

Josh Kelly subbed out, used as the sub, now dropped from gws side over the last three weeks.

Would love him.

Would be ironic if we ended up with him after all the noise was that we got it wrong in passing him up (twice no less).

I'm sure Salem would love to have his good mate at Melbourne.

Kelly is the one I'd be after. He really fits the mould.

As much as I love Shiel and Treloar, they would both come at a cost - quality picks/player/$$$.

We need to chase GWS players that could be the next Shiel or Treloar, but just aren't mature enough yet.

Both Kelly and Whitfield fit that mould, either player could even surpass Shiel and Treloar, and at the moment - they wouldn't come at such a high price.

I think to land Shiel or Treloar, It would take a quality pick and player, plus a decent contract.

Landing Kelly or Whitfield should only cost us a high pick, we could save 200-300k as well.

A guy I know that used to be on the recruiting team at WB when Eade was there told me Rocket was a lazy coach. Didn't follow up on stuff he should've, left a lot of work up to others that was his role to do, wasn't hard enough, didn't get the most out of some of the players. Now that was some time ago, a second hand experience of Rocket, and WB made a number of finals under his reign, so it's taken with a pinch of salt. But if there is any accuracy to it, he may not be the right person for the Suns.

If it happened, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when that news got to "purple's" ears!

best footage i've ever seen of rocket was when he was at the dogs with leon cameron on the phone down to the bench, and eade was going troppo about will minson stuffing up, ranting and raving, to the point where cameron screamed 'rocket, rocket, we can't hear ourselves!'.

it's absolutely hilarious.

And it would give us five "Brighton Grammar" old boys on our list. Maybe we could enter a team in the Amateurs n lieu of Casey? Edited by CBDees

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
